Storing furniture

I've recently aquired a gorgeous older (I'm thinking 50's-60's) chest of drawers for $25! I plan on cleaning it up and refinishing it. The problem is that I'm spending my next year in college in the dorms. Also, this piece is SOLID wood and very heavy. Which means it would just be horrible of me to ask my poor dad to haul it up to his 3rd floor apartment. He's agreed to put it in his storage area until I get my own place (most likely in about a year).

The storage area isn't one of those nice climate controlled places, although I think they do have some kind of air circulation because it's never very damp in there(he's stored clothing in there with no mildew/mold problems). It's essentially like a little garage. I'd like to avoid having the resident squirrels outside of the storage space take a lease out on my dresser, as well as keep out the nastier creepies that might get into the area. I was thinking cedar blocks, but I'll need a bunch, because like I said this chest is a beast.

Any cheap, preferably natural (but I'll forego my crunchy hippiness to save the furniture), ways to keep my dresser resident free?
