For anyone that hasn't heard about this site, I definitely recommend checking it out! There are some awesome tips on cleaning up your credit report, and it provides all the steps for debt validation.
For those that don't know, before you do any kind of debt settlement or consolidation, you should do debt validation. Under law, if you ask, collection agencies are required to prove that they have a legal right to demand payment from you. They have to do it within 30 days of your request, or they are in violation of law and you can sue them for $1000. A lot of times, collections agencies don't respond properly, if they respond at all.
I definitely recommend checking it out when you get a chance.
