Ok, so I barely ever use my livejournal to catalog events, but this week (sunday, maybe a bit before that actually, through today, tuesday) has been, to quote the popular children's books, "A Series of Unfortunate Events" that I believe are worth listing. Incredibly, I am such a fortunate person that each unfortunate event was solved, usually by the generosity of a true friend.
Right now I am using my roommate's computer. You may wonder why, for I have my own perfectly good computer. Or at least I HAD my own perfectly good computer until my father fried my hardrive last Friday. But actually, that wasn't supposed to create too many problems because we have another laptop, a very slow laptop that can only be used for word processing mind you, but an unused laptop nonetheless. Except that, as we found out on Sunday, when you press the on button, nothing happens. I think that it was left ununsed for so long the little man that runs around inside doing all the work got bored and lonely so he left, but who knows... anyway, I had to return to college computerless and, of course, with a ten page paper due next(not yesterday, thank God)Monday. My computer, the one with the fried hard-drive is fairly new, so my dad has promised to take it back to be fixed or to get a replacement and mother has a meeting in Lansing on Saturday so she can bring it up with her. My computer dilemma was a calamity, just barely thwarted.
Well, amazingly, I was still keeping up my positive spirits (I mean who can be depressed after going to the store and shopping for Christmas decorations????). I figured I could spend the week focused on my readings, cause heaven knows I have a ton. So after my shopping excursion on Sunday, as I was packing, I discovered that my laundry, which I had done the night before was not completely dry, particularly my huge heavy weight duvet(sp?) cover. Oh well, I knew I could drape it over the end of my bunk bed to air it out.
My mom guilted me into to driving her and myself back up to MSU, so she could "work" in the car. I HATE DRIVING. Especially on the highway. Fortunately, I made the drive without any mishaps. When I arrived at my dorm and began to unpack I realized that, though I had my damp duvet cover, the comforter itself was still in my laundry room. Along with my pillow. And my teddy bear, Julius. BUT I had a sleeping bag here and an extra pillow, again I was saved.
As soon as I was unpacked, I became incredibly bored, so bored in fact that I decided I wanted to do some scholarly reading. Until I realized that my books were sitting in my computer case on dining room table at home. Here is where my friends come in. Kathryn lent me one of the books I was missing as she had already finished it over break. Kristen brought the other book up to my room and we read it aloud to each other. Yay for friends!
Anyway, I started my period today, a week early, and realized that on top of all that, I must have been pmsing. Now I am just cramping. FUNNESS! But better now than next week or finals week.
So ummm... yeah.... many aspects of my comfortable life have been threatened in the last few days. But I was always generously rescued. I'd like to thank God, my mommy, my daddy(for fixing the computer HE broke), Bridget (she lent me some books too and put up with my complaining and lent me some comfort. even though I didn't mention her before, please don't think this thanks is an afterthought.), Kathryn, Kristen, AG(who I just love to call and complain too), and everyone else who has helped me through the last few days.
Oh yeah, I forgot. My 76 or 77 year old grandfather fell down an icy flight of stairs on Thanksgiving and my pregnant aunt became really really ill on Saturday. Luckily my grandpa is doing better, though he's still really stiff. I haven't heard from my aunt. This has been a pretty much sucky week.
bad day
