Harrow ON

I'm currently sitting in what I'd call the mudroom of my step-sister Stacey's house which is where their computer lives....along with various coats, hockey sticks, mittens, gloves, scarves hats about 40 boots, sneakers and shoes (not pairs of shoes since I know at least one sneaker is missing) that belong to a woman, a man and 3 young boys aged 6, 7 and 8 (almost 9).  There is no organization of these as I've come to learn that living with 3 rambunctious boys means that you're lucky if you can get them to hang their coats and snow pants up after asking a couple of times rather than leaving them where they fall off their body as they scramble, tumble, and wrestle (each other) on their way into the house.

Harrow Ontario is a sweet small town that boats probably about 8,000 people more or less.  The town library is less than 2 blocks from the house on the main street which is about 5 to 6 blocks long.  It's a quiet town in the middle of a nice flat agricultural region on the border of Lake Erie about 45 kms from Windsor Ontario which is over the river from Detriot MI.

Since it is such a nice quiet town it's pretty darn startling when suddenly you hear and FEEL the bass from a car stereo somewhere nearby.  The car has since driven off from wherever it was parked (I couldn't see it) and it's back to the quiet with the simple exception of the sound of the supersize fan in the computer case to my right.

It's peaceful here and I'm really enjoying it but I need to head away from the computer and into the rest of the house as I promised to wash the dishes, do a load of laundry and at 1pm I have a pork roast to put into the oven for dinner.  Perhaps after I get that in I'll walk up to the library and drop off a couple of books I've read and pick up a couple of new ones.  It's probably been a good 10 years since I've actively used a public library but in the 2.5  months I've been in Canada I've made frequent use of the Essex County library which has branches in both Harrow and Kingsville (where my Dad and Step-Mom live) both of which are walking distance so I get some exercise and fresh air as well as excercising and airing out my brain.

In some ways I feel like I'm coming awake after a long hibernation.  It's not bad...not bad at all.
