Funeral Went Well

Aug 12, 2010 18:05

...that is, as well as a funeral can go. I admit I was not so sad because of great-auntie (let's be fair - she led a very long, eventful life and certainly had her share of fun) but because everybody else was sad, especially her son (mother's cousin) and my mother, as the old lady was her favourite aunt. Ah, well.
I skipped the family gathering afterwards and went straight to the lab, because I needed some time alone. I didn't really get it, as Dr. S was there, but I didn't mind - his company was very welcome. Then I experienced a little shopping spree on my way home and now I'm here, the rice for tuna sushi is boiling, shrimps are waiting to be grilled, pralines cooling in the fridge and Dana is coming home with some brown sugar, which will go nicely with the white rum, limes, mint and ice which are already waiting here in my kitchen.
To put it in a nutshell, my friends, we are going to celebrate life or - more precisely - the fact that we are out of the closet and not yet in a box.
