high on kaki

Another glorious sunny autumn day - bright blue sky, cool and crisp air, wonderful colours everywhere - a clear reminder of why I love this season more than any other.
Also, they finally started selling tomels (kaki), still quite expensive and not completely ripe, but tasty nevertheless. The perfect autumn fruit.

I'm still terribly busy, but the Japan guidebook is almost finished. Will add some final touches and send it back to the publishing house. I must say that their translator (it was translated from English) has done a really bad job. I understand he couldn't possibly know everything about the transcription of Japanese words, but he/she even made quite terrible mistakes in English. For example, there was a sentence "A postman sporting a traditional garb." Guess how did he/she translate it to Czech: "A traditional postman doing a sport."
Indeed. And I guess I won't even mention what became of "Diet Building". *rolls eyes*

Anyway, once the guidebook is finished, I must start working on the novel translation (I'm terribly behind with everything!) and also finish one more piece, which is going to be a tricky one... I'm almost scared. No, scratch that one. I'm terrified.) Also, we are going to Frankfurt next week to attend the Book Fair. Not that I had any time to go, but it seems I will have to. And of course, there's my research. I talked with my tutor and we drafted my study plan together. He also advised me on grants and scholarships, so I will try applying for some. There's also a slight chance that he might be taking me along to Tokyo before Christmas, but that's not for sure. I will know by the end of the month, I guess.

What else... uh, yeah - our flat is infested with ladybugs. Apparently, they are not our usual European seven-dots ladybugs, but some another kind with four or twelve dots. They seem to be from Asia, or at least that's what newspaper says. They are really pretty, but we had to chase them out, as they are said to be slightly dangerous - cats might eat them and get sick all over the place.

As for the elections in the USA - it's getting dirty, eh? Or dirtier, to be more precise. I certainly hope people won't swallow that Palin's "Obama palling with terrorist" bait. It's so cheap. *yawns*

Well, not much more to say at the moment... except that my wife is being sweet. Unusually sweet. Maybe it's because I'm over the worst now and therefore I stopped snapping at her at the slightest opportunity? Hmmmm....
