not this one -- the other one...

My smart car, Ceddie (the silver and black one) has gone to a new home today.

more car musings

I just couldn't justify keeping him and couldn't afford to insure and run 4 cars.

We've still got Phaedra, see icon, and love her dearly too. I liked the leather seats more in Ceddie, they fit my body better but, Phaedra is nice and since she is D's car, my likes aren't as important.

I took Rose, the Mustang, in for detailing today. They cut-polished, waxed, top sealed and cleaned and treated the leather interior. You know, it's hard to drive a car with a polished steering wheel lol.

I'm now mature and sensible enough now to drive something this fast, light and responsive without killing myself. A friend said "you should have had this when you were 16" No, I shouldn't have. I'd be dead and the car would have been totaled. There aren't very many of these still around that haven't been wrapped round telephone poles. It's too easy to lose control when you have an overpowered engine, light compact body and it's combined with a wicked clutch and assist steering. The steering is VERY responsive which, I remember from racing can be a scarey thing if you start to break out on a curve.

Anyway -- the goal eventually is to replace the Astro Van with a Flex which will still carry 7 and tote instruments. It has room for one less passenger and a bit less cargo but has flat folding seats thus you don't have to sacrifice garage storage room to get that cargo space. We rented a Ford Flex for the drive back from Columbus in November and were shocked to find we loved it. I was NOT expecting that. It is hands down the best touring vehicle I've driven and that includes Toyota, Chevrolet, Honda and Lexus.

Enough about cars -- my bed is screaming my name and I'm not going to ignore it anymore :)
