Binge-watching is uncharacteristic for me; I'm primarily a reader, and have not watched much TV lately - in fact, I have started and abandoned so many series in the last few years that I was starting to wonder why I couldn't find anything that would engage me like my first fandoms did.
And then I took a chance on Guardian.
40 episodes in 7 days. Wow, what a journey! Now I'm torn between starting to read the fan fiction, watching the series again from the beginning now that I know how it ends, or reading the English translation of the original novel to compare and contrast (the original novel is an m/m love story, but the relationships in the series were officially "bromance," allegedly because of Chinese censorship. (However, I saw a comment that said both leading actors read the novel and tried to be true to the intended characterizations, and I think it shows in their acting choices; I also suspect that the director was trying to do the same.)
And now I want to spread the word.
Here's
the playlist for all 40 episodes of Guardian, with English subtitles, on Youtube.
Hey
