We have a new departure!

I feel pretty silly as I forgot to get a new passport after I changed my name, meaning that I will need to delay my flight a week or so - my new date of departure is now the 23rd, made a happier event with the knowledge that my parents *will* support my stay overseas... for how long? It will be up to me and my negotiation skills... enough for me to make my way into North Africa? I certainly hope so! :o)

This slight delay might be quite beneficial as I now have more time to prepare myself for a completely different way of life. For one, right now I'm not being very active - most of my work and play occurs in front of the computer and Sydney social life tends to bore me. I am definitely carrying around a sense that I have exhausted Sydney's resources and I attempt to retreat from traditional everyday situations as much possible... if this doesn't sound like the best way to go about your life, and I know it - I have been doing this consciously as I've felt the need to really drive home that I feel so out of odds with my environment!

I'm planning to camp in some of countries I'll be visiting, like China, the accommodation being slightly more expensive there than in the neighbouring lands- while I'm excited, the last time I slept in a tent was on a high school camp... I think you can hire tents from the various youth hostels, but it may take a little adjustment... though it does sound preferable to sleeping in a dorm, and a much cheaper option too!

I should probably bring a torch, batteries... I already have a list of about 50 items, so I'm a little worried about the size and weight of my luggage - esp. considering the kilso of books I intend to bring! So far I have two tour guides - a Let's Go for India and the Lonely Planet 'Mediterranean Europe" book, in which Morocco and a few other North African nations are listed... if I get to Morocco I will also travel by sea to Spain, Portugal, and possibly France and UK for short stays- that would be incredibly exciting! I have three or four ppl I can think of I could visit in the UK, esp England, and I'm getting increasingly curious about this place - ever so exotic to moi! ;oD
