I suppose I've been pretty out of touch with LJ not to realize that you moved over to this identity, like, 3 months ago? No wonder it's seemed quiet. :-)
I'm legally and morally obligated to respond that there is *plenty* to do in Rochester. And if you throw in the entirety of the Finger Lakes region down to and including Ithaca, well, you could practically grow up there.
I mean, did you really finish off this obligatory list of Things to See?
The House of Guitars
The Public Market
The Susan B. Anthony House
The National Museum of Play (formerly the Strong Museum, which I liked better)
The International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House
Highland Park! Especially if it's Festival weekend and/or the lilacs are in bloom.
High Falls (yes, it's depressing, but there it is in that big pit down there across from the brewery!)
Eastman Theater/Kilbourn Hall/Eastman School of Music-ness
Seabreeze (the neighborhood *and* the creepy old amusement park)
Any pretty Erie Canal place - say, Pittsford, or Fairport, and/or one of the Genesee River boat tours that docks out of Corn Hill
Corn Hill, especially if it's Festival weekend
All the froofy stores and cafes along Park Avenue, especially Parkleigh
All the silly crap stores the suburban high school kids like on Monroe Ave.
The Village Gate (again, it's depressing, but I think the Bop Shop is still open, and is worth the trip alone)
Real American Baseball at Frontier Field
Real American Soccer at whatever they're calling that sad new stadium behind Frontier Field these days
And finally, a guest appearance on whatever Brother Wease is calling his radio show these days
Once you've finished that, I'd suggest the American women's (and industrial) history mecca of Seneca Falls, the wine country down between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, and any one of the amazing state parks in that vicinity for scenic hiking.
And, if you're ever in town when it's happening, do not, under any circumstances, miss the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra. A cast of 1,000 mormons acts out the Book of Mormon on the hill where Joseph Smith says he found the golden plates on which the book was written! It is much, much, much better than it sounds, and the mormons won't bother you unless you want them to.
