i've stayed away from sports for a while now, but i recently got all wrapped up in the recent playoffs. It was cool, baseball is such a great game and there's just something endearing and american about it. But tonight ive been realizing why i stayed away from it for so long. Its so black and white. Its win or lose, red sox or yankees. Theres ( Read more... )

true, but that's the way it always is in sports. the lines are a lot more blurred in politics. the very nature of sports is win-lose and it's not like you can really escape that just by saying it's wrong. if it wasn't blakc and white, sports wouldn't exist; they simply can't sustain themselves on being fair and balanced toward every team.

you either win or lose, and the red sox have been losing for decades. so i think everyone owes a little respect and a little bit of leeway for red sox fans who are blowing their tops. this is a beautiful, incredible moment for the red sox nation; for years, the yankees have boringly won every single fucking year, and have gotten into a streak of self-entitlement, cockiness, and overconfidence. so you can imagine the absolute joy every non-yankees fan feels that finally, the american league crown can be worn by the underdog.

i think it's ridiculous to believe that there is a grey in sports. as i said before, the very nature of sports is black-and-white. very simple. one team wins. one team loses. that's the end of the game. wait 'til next year. your comments ignore the very basic tenets of fandom: that you stick by your team no matter what, that each october is a sink-or-swim situation that you have to triumph over, that the essential thrill of the sport is reveling in the competition. you think that somehow baseball fans -- or any other fans, for that matter -- will all the sudden stop competing and live in harmony, enjoying every team? that's stupid. you know that can't happen. maybe that can happen in other arenas of life, but SPORTS ARE COMPETITION. you win some, you lose some, you have to accept that as a very basic truth and move on.

your entire rant sounds like something a sore loser would come up with to justify his team's loss. not that it is. it just sounds that way.

also, it's pretty fucking obnoxious that all these "anonymously targeted rants" are so obviously pointed at me. get a life, dude. let the red sox fans have their celebration, FINALLY.

yankees suck.
