Mutual Love Fest

storydivagirl and I were talking about how sad it is that running the rec community together means we never get to rec each other's stuff. We love each other (my OTP is totally storydivagirl/iamtheenemy) and we love each other's work. To rectify this, we decided on a one time mutual love fest, wherein we would rec our top five favorite stories written by the other. To read all of her stories, you should check out her web site.

5. The Devil's Trap Choose Your Own Adventure--Supernatural--This story was written before season two premiered, and it's such a fun idea! It's a literally a choose your own adventure where you decide what happens in the minutes and days after that episode. I don't think I've ever seen another fic like it. PG-13

God, Dean…he was in dire need of a hospital before getting run over by a semi. Sam strained to see Dean through the rearview mirror and panic spiraled through him when he saw Dean’s hunched shoulders. He couldn’t see anything else, but that combined with the fact that Dean would’ve said something by now…Sam pushed on the steering wheel until he managed to break free.

4. Three Kisses in a Fucked-Up Friendship--CWRPS--I'm not big on CWRPS, I don't know why, but Tommygirl makes me enjoy it. This story is three vignettes about three different kisses that Jensen and Jared share. Jared/Jensen. R

Jensen smiled half-heartedly at the bartender and followed Jared out the door. Jared was sprawled across the hood of the car and Jensen glanced upward. Sometimes he was convinced that Jared was his punishment on earth or some sort of test of patience.

3. A New Motto--The O.C.--Seth needs a new motto after Ryan goes back to Chino at the end of season one. I love Seth's voice in this. I think it's perfect. Seth/Ryan

He didn’t want Ryan to see him, didn’t want Ryan to pity the poor friendless idiot who couldn’t help but watch as his best friend drove back to his real life with a girl he didn’t even love. Seth went back and forth on that point. Ryan didn’t love her. He couldn’t love her, but he was leaving all the same. Seth wavered between utter devastation and a strange pride in Ryan for standing by Theresa until he finally decided that his best course of action was to pretend Ryan didn’t exist. Seth could pass it off as one long dream, an imaginary friend that came complete with invitations to parties and the girl of his dreams.

2. This is the Way the World Ends--Supernatural gen--It's the only apocalypse fic I've ever read and enjoyed, so that should tell you something. Also, the end gets me every time. PG-13

The end of the world doesn’t really feel like the end of the world should. It’s like that line from the poem by T.S. Eliot - not with a bang but a whimper. It’s all Sam can think about as he lays wrapped up in the musty motel blankets, pretending to count the cracks in the ceiling and not think about the past forty-eight hours. His gaze shifts to Dean and Sam knows from his brother’s breathing patterns that he’s not asleep either. Not that Sam can blame him. It’s the end of the world and it doesn’t feel nearly as gigantic or spectacular as Sam thinks it should.

1. Rhythm and Blues--NSYNC--Yes, it's NSYNC hetfic and yes, it is awesome. Laney, the protagonist, is a great character that I really cared about. If nothing else, read it for the hilariously Jossed straight!Lance character. Heh.

I still remember the first time we met. I had arrived home from my first day of some stupid recreational camp that my parents thought I needed and I saw him sitting on the steps of the house next door. I dropped my bike and stared at him, watching him bouncing his basketball on the steps and only stopping to blow hair out of his face. He reminded me of Kenny Whitman, the popular kid at my elementary school.

the o.c., mutual love fest, pairing: seth/ryan, pairing: jared/jensen, rps, nsync, supernatural
