So
iamtheenemy and I don't rec each other's stories here because it feels weird and odd to do that, but she's probably one of my favorite writers out there. So we were talking (like we do) and decided, hey, we should have a mutual love fest and rec our five favorite stories by each other just this once.
After her swearing me not to go on about my love of her Nsync fanfiction, I have come up with a list of five of my favorite stories in four different fandoms. It should go without saying that all fic listed was written by
iamtheenemy and can also be found at
her website 1.
Two Guys Run Out of a Bar - Supernatural, Sam/Dean [NC-17] - This was actually the first Sam/Dean story that I ever read because Steph made me. And while I couldn’t fully appreciate it at the time, I loved that she brought her banter and humor to the piece. It’s hot and wonderful. “You…!” Dean yells when they finally stop running, pointing a shaking finger in Sam’s face. Sam crosses his arms over his chest and scowls in the angry, indignant way that Dean has learned to loathe, because it always means that one of them has fucked up.
2.
Pure Luck - CSI, Post Grave Danger, Nick/Greg [PG-13] - This is from Warrick’s point of view set during and after the events of the episode. I love the look at not only Warrick’s own worries & frustrations, but the look at Nick/Greg as someone discovers it. Warrick gripped the quarter in his hand so hard that the ridges around the outside imprinted themselves into his palm. It had to be some kind of joke that the toss of a coin could do this to Nick, the most decent person that Warrick ever met. Warrick knew all about betting and percentages. One coin, two sides, a fifty-fifty chance, even odds, pure luck. It wasn’t right.
3.
Three Ways They Didn’t Find Out - CSI, Nick/Greg [PG] - It’s the three ways that the other CSIs didn’t find out about Nick & Greg’s relationship. It’s funny and wonderful, and there is hardly any Greg in the story, but it’s all centered around him and it works. Catherine kept glancing in the rearview mirror to watch Nicky. He looked miserable, his jaw muscles clenched and his face white with worry. Suddenly much of Nick and Greg’s recent behavior clicked into place. Her eyebrows rose in surprise as she tried to assimilate that new information.
4.
Birthday Boy - Queer As Folk UK [PG-13] - I would love to rec you guys Sherlock Jones, but Steph couldn’t be bothered to finish the thing. Instead, I give you a story that is set in the same universe, but doesn’t have to be read with the rest of it. It’s set around Vince’s birthday and Stuart is his normal arsehole self. I love the Stuart voice and how Steph can make him such an ass and yet, you still love him and know he loves Vince. But it hurt so much, watching Stuart cop off, not with one, but two blokes. He could forget about it on any other day, and ruthlessly quell the pain or jealousy he felt when Stuart left him alone in order to shag. It’s only…today was his *birthday*, and he’d thought…so stupid now that he looked back, but he thought that meant something. Thought it meant he’d have Stuart to himself for the whole day, possibly the last time that would ever happen. Could he be a bigger twat?
5.
Atlantis Is for Lovers - Stargate Atlantis, McKay/Sheppard [NC-17] - This just makes me giggle. Again, it brings one of my favorite things about Steph’s writing to the forefront, her banter and humor. And then it just gets really hot and yeah, I’d deal with a dumb shirt if I got to make out with John Sheppard. She flicked a bag at him, which he caught without thinking. The package was soft, and opening it revealed a folded blue t-shirt. Pulling it out of the bag, he opened it up and rolled his eyes when he saw the design on the front.
