CAW, MOTHERFUCKERS.

Okay, so the thirty-second rundown for those playing along at home who weren't onboard for the ridiculous roller-coaster ride of shenanigans that was Rosella and Cain's kid:

Cain leaves the City, Rosella goes with him back to London, she hates it a whole lot but such is life, they have a bunch of illicit encounters in the Scandalous Rendezvous House on the other side of Cain's property, magic ends up calling Rosella home, she jumps into a fountain and lands in Daventry, several months later there is a SURPRISE BABY BOY. Who grows up to be basically one of the greatest magicians alive. Who then finds his way back to London and gets up to SHENANIGANS. And makes Crehador's life miserable in the process, whee.

SO ANYWAY. I think about the only thing I haven't really elaborated on with this kid is...what he ends up doing when he stops running around causing massive property damage in London. >> DUDE'S GOTTA SETTLE DOWN SOMETIME. And I think it gets kind of interesting because for all that he technically holds claim to all these different titles, I don't think he's really all that inclined to go and take hold of any of them? Like, it's pretty fair to say he's not going to officially end up the true Earl of Hargreaves, regardless of whether or not he eventually reveals himself to Merry. His age would be a problem, for one thing (woo, time travel shenanigans), and parentage discrepancies would be another, and then it'd be a birthright fight and nobody needs that.

But then on the other side of things, I don't think he really sees himself as the right kind of person to be a king, the way that his grandfather is A King. The urge to adventure is pretty prevalent among everyone on Rosella's side of the family, save maybe Alexander (and he still does his fair share anyway), and I think Kit ends up feeling like too much of a free agent to really be comfortable settling in as The Next King of Daventry. Blame Crehador and his bad influences, but he's really gotten used to this sort of lazy drifter roaming detective kind of lifestyle, and let's face it--when he's in London, he's like The Most Powerful person there, because he's basically the only true and trained wizard. In Daventry, he's got competition, so he's less unique and special and capable by comparison.

There's also the somewhat awkward thing about how his parents are both in Daventry now, and there's that whole "live at home with your mom" thing working, and life in London is kind of like going away to college. Sure you want to go home every so often and do your laundry and eat that great home-cooked food, but it's fun to be out on your own doing all the stuff you're never going to tell your parents about, too.
