They had a kid during a curse. Sort of. His name was Alejandro and he was an EPIC MESSENGER HAWK that they used for tracking and coordinating their bounty hunting activities between the wanderings of our nameless man here and Stephen's distinctly lawless boarding house (Stephen got news and locations, Nameless Guy got the hits and the rewards--which he brought back to split). It was quite a scheme they had worked out, and Alejandro played a key role. He even had a little perch that fit on the side of No-Name's saddle so he could ride along. Sure, he was a hawk, but he was their hawk.

Okay okay okay... (I'm going to use that set-up, though, for the rest of this...)

Name: It's a boy! Stephen would probably get to pick his name, but in my mind it would be one of those old-fashioned boy's names that gets shortened really easily. Like John (Jack, Johnny), Joseph (Joe), Michael (Mike), Franklin (Frank), Jacob (Jake), Caleb (Cabe), Bartholomew (Bat, Bart), Benjamin (Ben). Something like that. So it sounds respectable at full ( ... )

Circumstances of Conception: AS established already, Stephen is the mother. Don't ask how it works. It's big medicine or something. So, anyway... Some time just after the Civil War (so, say, 1865 and post-The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly), with the $100,000 in gold now hidden, spent, buried, deposited, given away, or otherwise handled (what plot hole?), Our Man rides into a town wherein a boarding house has just been inherited by one, Stephen Stills (from an uncle who probably died in a brawl in that same house). After coming in and cleaning the place out (look, every single man in there was worth more than a few dollars dead, all right?), a partnership is formed. The place is already popular with the no-good and the low-down, so they use the place as bait to lure one gang or other in, or they get everyone in it drunk enough so that they spill where someone or other is, and Stephen minds the house while Nameless Man collects the bounty. It works brilliantly. Although, you know, Stephen gets a bit envious that his partner there ( ... )

"They'll always come to get him out." ...god, I wish you hadn't said that, because my brain started constructing the story where Stephen dies in the tussle and Jack is just waiting in there for it to be over. Only he's in there a while and he can't stay in there forever, so he comes out to the ruins of the boarding house and is kinda....feeling sad, and betrayed, only eventually Nameless Guy shows up, and looks it all over, and just kind of gives him a nod, and he nods back and then they go off.

OMG that is, like, the saddest thing ever. Ever.

(/insert Caru's requisite The Road joke here, of course.)

And then I had a horrible idea: what if they had a girl?

Name: Adelaide Maria "Coyote" Stills (again, gotta have a last name, so...) The nickname came about because she was a screamer as a baby. Some kids just are. So someone finally started joking that they must have a coyote pup locked up upstairs or that kid must be part coyote to howl like that. So she got a nickname from early on. But it also suited her later on, because she was inclined to sneak around in the kitchen and around abandoned plates and steal scraps--very scavenger. The name has stuck. She kind of likes it. Most people call her by it, except for a few of the women in town who think it's improper for a girl to be called by such a name and they'll call her by her given name. But...she doesn't think too much of them and their formality, anyhow.

Appearance/Description: Well, she's got good genes? Okay, okay... First off, she's not what you'd call pretty, not for a little girl. She's not ugly, but she's just not all fluttering eyelashes and sweet smiles and ( ... )

Three Random Facts:1. She has ruined more dresses and skirts by rough-housing, fighting, running around, climbing things, and carrying on than a young lady should. And she doesn't care. Stephen will have to deal with the mending, but after a certain point, everyone may just throw up their hands and let her dress like a boy in jeans and pants. She will be happy. However, for reasons that she and she alone knows, she will always keep her hair long. She likes it long, but not (may I add) pinned up. What she does and wears is for the sake of comfort and convenience. This answers that requirement ( ... )
