Well well, saw the new Harry Potter last night. I wasn't planning on seeing it right at the premier actually. Being that Nancy is leaving for 2 months on Saturday and she couldn't go see it with us on Thursday at midnight, we decided to postpone the movie till Friday night.
But unfortunately, Devon couldn't go see it on Friday because he is leaving for Florida that same day to go to his uncle's wedding, and so I decided to see it with him on Thursday night, and then again with Nancy on Friday. Anything for the HP fan, right?
I can't say I was too impressed with the movie. Certainly I can't expect the same development in it as in the book, but compared to the previous two however I still think that overall the Prisoner of Azkaban is the weakest of the three.
Although the movie was the shortest of the three and still managed to capture the character and the visual poetry that was lacking in the first two, it just didn't quite do it for me. Most of the critics rated this movie the best of all the HP movies, saying it tells the exact same story more effectively than J.K. Rowling. I wonder what books they read. To me it left the most key characteristics of it: drama, suspense.
I kinda agree with Ann Hornaday, who, in the Washington Post, gives the film its most negative review by a major newspaper critics, writing: "This is one long sit, made all the more so by a turgid story, a dour visual palette and uninspiring action."
