Canada's Arctic spat with Denmark hits Internet Not sure if you've been following this story (why on earth am I following this story???), but apparently the Danes bought Google ads, forcing Canada to do the same.
The two have placed online ads about which country controls the 1.3 square km (half a square mile) Hans Island, located between Canada's Ellesmere Island and Greenland, which belongs to Denmark.
Toronto author Rick Broadhead said he bought an advertisement on Internet search engine Google after spotting a Danish ad that said "Does Hans sound Canadian? Danish name, Danish island."
Those cheeky Danes. That's okay, we own

Of course, it wouldn't be Canada without an amusing potshot (filled with love) at our neighbours...
"Notwithstanding the disputed area, the Canadian foreign affairs ministry is allowing its cafeteria to sell Danish pastries as a goodwill gesture towards the Danish government and people," said ministry spokesman Reynald Doiron.
Carburettor breast fantasy wins bad writing prize A Microsoft analyst has won an annual contest celebrating bad writing by comparing fixing carburettors to fondling a woman's breasts, while an Australian woman was awarded in the children's category.
Organisers say McKay, 43, of North Dakota was visiting China, "perhaps to escape notoriety for his dubious literary achievement".
The California San Jose State University contest challenges entrants to submit bad opening sentences to imaginary novels and has attracted entries from around the world for 23 years.
It was inspired by 19th century novelist Edward George Earl Bulwer-Lytton, who opened his 1830 novel Paul Clifford with the now-immortal words: "It was a dark and stormy night."
