This is an exerpt from my first email to all my "supporters back home". Many of you probably recieved the full version. If you are not on this mailing list and wish to be, please leave a working email in the comment box. I do hope that you will join in this with me.
I have faith that funding, travel and the many unforeseen details still to come will each work out. I have had many months of confirmation that it truly is both the Lord’s desire and my own to work in Senegal. The Lord has promised to work out what He has planned, and I am standing on this and the many other promises in his word. Admittedly, it has been very hard to be confronted with these hurdles in the last few weeks. There have been moments which I would have rather given up, but in the end that is not the answer.
With these new hurdles as well as my departure in the only a few short weeks, I would like to ask you all to join my family and I in a time of fasting and prayer. We would like this to take place each Wednesday beginning this week, on August 3rd. I would ask you to take one meal and spend that time in prayer for my trip as well as the people of Senegal. [note: any time is acceptable, the prayer is the important part]. Things to lift up in prayer:
* Funding.
* Favor and ease with travel and customs
* Our work with the students at Bourofaye Christian School and the surrounding community.
* The people of Senegal. Senegal remains 95% Muslim and greatly unreached by the gospel. Many live in poverty because work is short and many are in very great need of things we take for granted.
* Safe travel and ministry favor. During some school breaks I will have the opportunity to work with other field missionaries.
* I want to learn as much as possible while in Senegal. I pray that I will be able to see Christ in every area and to display his love. I want to see this as both service and a learning experience. I do not want to take that for granted.
* That I can keep within an attitude of service and understanding. I am aware that there will be times when this will be easier said than done.
Thank you.
