Back to finding cool shit.

It's all about selection.

There were some great movies that came out last year, and it's looking like exciting movies are going to come out this year. I, however, went through a bit of an anti-movie slump last year, due in part to the fact that I did not pay attention to movies in general (plus something something personal life tribulation and drama and so such). When you don't pay attention to movies in general, very little quality fights through. You're stuck with the commercial noise that screams your attention loose.

I'm sure the same is true in the other art worlds, music and books and comics and theatre and even paintings and sculpture.

Nothing here I haven't said before. It's just striking how easy it is, once you do any small amount of digging, to unearth hope and remember that sometimes people make really cool shit that's worth having in your life.

I started a monthly film-going event and hope to extend this thought process. Next month's movie will probably be High Rise, based off of the JG Ballard book of the same title that I read last year and enjoyed immensely.

Texting and planning upcoming dates continues at least hourly with my Valentine (actually asked "Will you be my Valentine?" she actually said yes, so, that was cute) for after her parents leave town.
