I went through a round of similar afflictions, which are easing now - and blood tests revealed a number of problems which were addressable with supplements.
I am monitoring the blood tests closely (every ten days), and adjusting dosages as required, but it is helping. The swelling in my feet is reducing, bones are doing better, skin issues improving and so on. For months, I was declining and expecting not to live halfway through the year. Now I anticipate next week being better than this week.
I sincerely hope that something similar can work for you, Yael.
Quite likely it could. Part of the problem, though, is money. I am very poor, and can't afford much in the way of supplements, certainly not the kind you take every day, every month, for a long time for problems like this. Medicaid and Medicare won't cover them. When I was in my 20s, 30s, and 40s, I had sources of income because of which I could afford the supplements I needed then, which came to $60-$70 a month sometimes. And they got me over problems I was having then. I have no such sources of income now, though, other than SSI and what little I make as a phone psychic, which isn't much. Maybe something will break loose and I can get them -- I know I need vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin C, balanced mega-B spectrum vitamins, and minerals. I am taking vitamin D, 2,000 units a day, so I don't need that. As for the rest, that's a definite maybe. :-/
I hope so, too. But I just found some vitamin supplements in my cupboards that can help: folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin C, and citrus bioflavinoids. They may help my legs to heal. :-)
The leg sores sound like venostasis ulcers, which I have as the result of diabetes but can have other causes. You basically have to keep your legs elevated and wear compression stockings/Ace wraps while bandaging them to prevent opportunistic infections.
The Ace bandages I can see. But I can't wear compression stockings because that requires a garter belt to hold them up, and the only one I could find in my size has garter tabs that are way too short for that. As for elevating my feet, I can't do that, either. I live in a studio apartment in which there is no room for a recliner, and I have nothing I can put on my bed for elevating my feet. I don't know what's going to happen now. But I'm seeing my doctor next Friday or sooner, and he knows about all this, and he and I will discuss possible remedies then.
The compression stockings I have from the VA (made by Jobst) don't require a garter belt; they have a 2" elastic band around the top that does the job.
