Before you decide to declare jihad on Bill Maher, think about this: he's perfectly democratic about it. He slams everyone, regardless of race, creed, color, or politics. God bless the clowns of this world -- they tell us the home truths that we need so desperately to hear, and which we wouldn't stand for coming from anyone else. We are all fallible mortals, with the same potential for screwing up and the same deep psychospiritual fault-lines running right through the middle of us. If we can't laugh at ourselves -- and when we laugh at jokes about our religions, we really are laughing at ourselves, because, while God made creation, we made our various religions in our attempts to establish good relationships with God, they are our creations, so stop blaming them on God! -- if we can't laugh at ourselves, we will go stark, staring mad. It's the great comedians of the world who enable us to laugh at ourselves and our foibles and follies. Bill Maher is such a comedian.
