Okay, first of all, I agree with what's been said so far - the island is pretty much its own dimension, and based on the way things go, it can't really be reached by conventional means by...anything, signals included. Most of the mechanical things brought to the island with someone just stop functioning because they're designed to communicate with the outside world and that's...not really possible, though the Dexes still function - so if there's a signal going to the Dex itself, it would have to come from within the scope of the island itself, if that makes any sense. The OC would have to be on the island, but there are plenty of places that would make that possible - as was mentioned, the Seven Lakes area is fairly dead and provides several places to hide, and there are a few small uninhabited islands within the dimension that would also serve this purpose well.
I'm leaning towards allowing it, with the general understanding that the AI is controlled by a human and not an entirely self-functioning object, as it were, and that said human is on the island.

Alright, I understand. That was an odd thought in the first place to wonder about including him but not here, but I understand it now that ya'll have helped explain.
Like I said above, I think for this moment I'm going to pull back and regroup about this idea.
But would this device be alright, if theoretically it had a 'post of it's own' but was initiated by the hidden human?

Don't worry about the misunderstanding regarding the way the Island works; again, the descriptions we have up are very vague, though unintentionally so, and I apologize for the currently unclear presentation. We're working on revising them so it makes more sense, and we're always willing to help answer questions.
I apologize if this is horribly ignorant or if I should recognize you somehow, as I'm not trying to offend, but my memory isn't very good and it's a bit of a large comm - have you played here before, or is this your first time doing so?

I think I will be back soon, I just need to refine my OC some in how I'm going to present someone who is hiding, and find someone who will want to play with the shiny new purple pokedex before I leave it out there and no one wants it, thus loosing it's purpose.
Oh lol no, I've only played one character who's not gotten past his intro. I read how the general mechanics worked, but I didn't really look too far into it as it wasn't pertinent for him.
I-I neglected to mention who I was incase you were all NOTHAT'SDUMB. /s-sob nolongerarival, Nina.
And I said I was on hiatus, so I feel like trying to start this is cheating, but it wouldn't leave me alone.

Again, though, thanks so much for being so reasonable, because it's surprising how many people...uh, aren't; it honestly makes my day to know that we have players that are willing to actually work with us and be so nice about the whole thing. As Vyck said, this idea shows a lot of promise - and if you want someone to play with the shiny new purple Pokédex, if you don't have anyone in mind I'd be down for working with you on it, if you'd like.

I don't understand the point of being unreasonable. I doesn't really get anyone anywhere, and this idea only works with the help of others.
Would you? I don't really have anyone in mind because I haven't talked to any other muns besides my sister. I'm not big on instant messengers, so I miss out that connection because that's what most people do.
If I'm bogged down with work and stress, I have so many ideas. But the days I can afford to laze and do nothing I have no juices.

I'm replying to this comment instead of our above thread because basically Dal has said what I have wanted to. Seriously, thank you for being understanding and generally decent about this whole thing; it honestly means a lot. I'll also doubly confirm permission for your character to use his Pokedex as a tool. This idea shows a great deal of promise and potential to work and to work well.
Also, if you have any further problems concerning this or concerning anything at all then don't hesitate to come to myself or to Dal. We like to think that we're approachable!
