Drabble - Might Have, Could Have, Should Have

Notes: Pluto wanted a Jack/Ianto Valentine's fic. I'm not sure this is what she had in mind... But hey, I kept it mercifully short! I took the mood cue from from a Blake's 7 community but I may have failed in the attempt!
Might Have, Could Have, Should Have
So many Valentine's Days, shared with a myriad of lovers and loved ones. Romantic, adventurous, fun, others downright filthy. With some notable exceptions, details and partners were hazy yet happy memories now.
February 14th 2010 was different. Alone, he solemnly raised his glass.
"To what might have been."
But it wasn't enough. He could have spoken the simple, complex words where it had all ended but instead found himself standing where it had begun, slipping an all-too-late lovenote into a notch of the park tree's bark.
