Seventeen simultaneous pleasures

Reluctant to do this. I've decided that I need my mates to perform an intervention if I continue with my godawful addiction to spoilers for telly dear to me. I knew everything, even down to 'Starship Trooper', going into the TW finale and as a result I watched in a state of numbness. Never has being spoiled so thoroughly spoilt an experience for me. Like a drunk the morning after the night before I'm saying 'never again!' but evenso I think I'm going to need help to kick the habit :p

Some overall observations. The guy playing Gray was like a plank of wood. I reckon he must have been cast because of his passable resemblance to JohnB; and it looked like he was concentrating so hard on the accent he forgot about everything else. And don't tell me his experiences had made him ice cold. Hatred is a powerful emotion, and if it's all that's been keeping you going you expect a flicker of something to pass across the face, at the very least. By contrast, Naoko and Burn were fabulous, even John was emoting more convincingly than usual throughout.

John Hart was mercifully understated this time around; I couldn't have stomached too much swaggering amidst the angst. Glad they didn't have him dominating the ep. James played the layers well enough.

I think Rhys and Andy had as much to do and say as Ianto, which is pretty piss poor IMO, as much as I enjoy their appearances normally. But at least Ianto got to kick some butt. Loved it when he and Tosh just matter of factly despatched the grim reaper type dudes. "There we are then." "Sorted." And then the marauding Weevils.

So, what else?

"I really do love you."

Weevils in the cop shop.

The Grim Reaper dudes.

The rather dumb Hoix.

Jack in shackles. "This is a little extreme, don't you think?" ".. suddenly you're anti-bondage?"

"Oh go on then, stop me. I hope you can. Really."

Cardiff going kaboom.

The Castle looking very pretty.

Cardiff 27 AD.

Rhys and Andy getting off on super cool and calm Gwen.

"I want you to suffer. I want your life." How much more chilling that could have been in the hands of a better actor!

John kissing his ring ;)

Rhys being wonderfully supportive of Gwen.

Ouchie, the unbonding of John's wristbomb doodad.

Ianto, harbinger of doom. Then saying he's off to the plant to deal with it. Tosh insisting on going to. But they can't get there in time because of the weevils, so Owen volunteering - "King of the Weevils, remember."

Ianto and Tosh to the rescue again, back at the Hub.

Ianto's "If we don't find him, I'll kill you. Very slowly."

Owen's babble about the nukes sounding impressive, when in reality he doesn't have a bloody clue.

Gray shooting Tosh when she's in the middle of helping Owen via the comms.

ThumpThumpThump - that'd be Jack then, right? Right. Ye olde Torchwoode.

Gray's "The only strength I have is my hatred for you." Yes, but say it like you mean it!

Heroic Tosh, fighting against death to get the job done. Now, as numb as I'd been up 'til this point, Naoko is so stellar in the ep that this is where my lip starts to quiver.

Owen trapped and facing his doom. "I've died once. I'm not doing it again." His raging against his fate.

The most powerful, heartwrending moment of two series' worth of TW - "Because you're breaking my heart." Utter perfection Naoko *blub*

Tosh and Owen's tender dying convo.

Not sure freezing Gray is an answer. Don't ever want to see him again, unless he emerges as a different actor...

Jack not wanting John's kiss.

Packing away Owen and Tosh's stuff. Ianto trying to hold it together as he logs them out for the last time.

Tosh's goodbye vid, and Owen not being there to hear her say 'I love you' again.

"Now we carry on."

"The end is where we start from." Great line Chibbers. And thanks for some great episodes this season.
