She'd teased him about his slovenly habits around the flat, which were in stark contrast to his sharp-dressing at work, and fastidiously neat workstation. This 'gift' had been her jokey way of telling him he really needed to do his share of domestic chores.
New flat, different city. But he still has the bottle, sporting its pale peach ribbon bow and handwritten label. He stares at it, glares at it, smiles at it, remembering his gentle revenge. Before the ghastly image of Lisa inhabiting Annie, recounting how he'd nagged her about the state of her kettle, tears him apart again.
