...that's probably not how things are done around here, N

[Hello, Awesome Island! This particular section of the CMA is relatively clear, actually, a good amount of the snow having melted and the runoff leaving the ground springy and damp; it's a bit warmer today than it has been lately, and N has apparently decided that it's about time that he greeted the day properly, a brown satchel made of thick ( Read more... )

[Once it's healed, N allows that...terribly confused Roselia go on its way, and he waits for a moment to ensure that it's clear of the path he's been taking. It's a very definite path, too - if he keeps this up, the CMA will be adorned with some very lovely crop circles before too long.

And it isn't too long before a wild Nuzleaf approaches; if you happen to let the battle finish uninterrupted, Silver, it'll become very clear that that...wasn't exactly a random occurrence, nor was it a one-time thing because he happened to pity that particular Roselia.]

...What are you doing? [Seriously this is the most convoluted method of training he's ever seen-]

[Well, for the time being he's...leaving that Nuzleaf where it is as it's kind of heavier than he'd thought, but he's Reviving and Restoring it, why do you ask - ]

I have to strengthen my friends in some way, and I refuse to just bring harm to others for our benefit. This is the least cruel way to help everyone - at least, that I can see.

Have them battle each other. Run laps. Crush boulders or have them hit targets or something. That just looks like a monotonous waste of time.

Training against inanimate objects won't prepare them for what lies ahead of them - and it isn't right to make my friends fight against each other in such a way, whatever the reason.

Even if you find it monotonous, don't take your shortsightedness out on me.

...But it's right to make them fight against a bunch of weaker wild Pokémon.

You're twisting my words.

Sorry, let me fix that.

It's "less wrong" to "strengthen your friends" by "bringing harm to others for your benefit" when you could just have them train with each other and make more progress than you'll probably get from the Pokémon around here.

Excuse me if I'm a little skeptical.

I understand your skepticism, and yet still, I disagree with you. Again, you're doing nothing but twisting what it is that I'm attempting to do - I don't care to hear any further complaints from you about things you know nothing about!

[Okay, okay, whoawhoawhoa. Let's. Let's take a moment.

N can feel his temper flaring, burning hot through his system, and this is exactly the sort of circumstance that Father has told him never to try to have a discussion under. In a way, humans are like one's friends in that regard - shouting at them or insulting them will only make them not want to listen at best, and at worst will offend or hurt them and make them not want to be around you again. While N has never really been offput by the possibility of the latter when it comes to humans, he knows that sort of thing would make Father displeased - we have to work with the humans to save our friends, that's just the way things are.

As a result, he just kind of...breathes for a moment. Relaxes a bit. The next few words are things that he has a hard time making sound natural and not rehearsed, but as long as he doesn't sound completely like a robot he'll consider it good enough.]

I'm...I apologize for losing my temper; you're right, it was very immature.

No, because you're right. I shouldn't have shouted at you.

...You're supposed to get mad and argue your point more and degenerate into calling me stupid or dumbass or moron and possibly start shoving or punching.

But if everyone did that sort of thing, no one's voices would be heard. Why would you want me to fight with you?
