[ A new familiar face has arrived. He's marching through the woods with a determined expression and a Pikachu clinging to his shoulder. Suddenly, his foot lands on sand and the trees vanish. The sun shines brightly in his eyes, momentarily blinding him before he grins and takes a few more steps on to the beach.]
See, Misty! I told you we weren't lost! I knew exactly where I was going the whole time!
[Ash turns around to gloat and sees...nothing. He blinks, stares briefly at the trees in front of him, then begins to search the area. ]
Misty...? Brock...?
[Not seeing either of his friends anywhere, Ash turns to Pikachu with a frown.]
Huh... Wonder where they went...
