science is fun!

[About a week ago, Kris suddenly left the house she shared with Gold and Silver. She had not spoken of leaving; there was no note explaining where she was. She was simply gone, leaving behind a bowl of pancake batter on the counter and a rinsed-off whisk in the sink. Her bedroom was immaculate as always: bed made, clothes folded neatly in her dresser or hung smartly in her closet, and all her shoes- except for a missing pair of boots in the middle- in a perfect line in her closet. Some of her other exploration gear is missing- the stuff you'd need to set up in a hot, arid environment.

Where has she been? In the desert, researching the desert Pokemon. She has a little camp set up by the oasis that she's been sleeping at, but otherwise she's been tromping all over the desert. She's been digging up fossils, studying Trapinch digging habits, listening to the
music of the Maractus... but most of her research has to do with an odd group of Sudowoodo she's stumbled upon. These Sudowoodo have adapted to the desert by imitating cacti. To aid in this endeavor, this particular strain seems to have developed an unusual coloration and a set of rather formidable spines to help protect themselves. Their rivalry with the local Maractus is absolutely fascinating.

Right now, she's situated in the shade of a large dune, sketching a group of the Sudowoodo as they imitate cacti. She'd take pictures of them... but, alas, she ran out of room on the memory cards for her digital camera days ago. Not that Kris really minds. She's not much of an artist, but she enjoys sketching Pokemon in the wild. As she sketches, she hums softly to herself; there's no fear that the Sudowoodo will suddenly run away on her.

Kris is sunburnt, grubby from sand, grit, and charcoal, and blissfully happy. She hasn't thought about going home once in all the time she's been gone.]
