[If you're out by the beach today, you may notice a certain Team Aqua boss sitting on a rocky outcropping above the ocean. How he got up there is a mystery. He's throwing pebbles into the water, but it looks like he's looking for something in the distance. Below, his Sharpedo is taking quite the pleasure in chasing after whatever fish Pokemon he

[You said the magic word! ... The magic word being 'Maxie'. Why, Edmond just happened to be taking his baby Zangoose/kid for a stroll down by the beach, to let Raymond get a taste of the fresh spring breeze. Not... too close to the water, though, 'cause we don't like water. When Edmond sees Archie in the distance, however... he instantly recognizes that it's an Archie, but with him being so far off there's no way for him to tell which Archie it is, or if it's an Archie he has met, even. But he's feeling lucky and confident that it's not the evil Archie. So he calls out to him.]

Archie! What's the matter, are you feeling melancholy today?

[aquaboss]

[Archie turns to glance toward the sound of the unfamiliar voice and lifts an eyebrow. Someone else who knows him, but he's never met. This island is one strange place alright. He walks closer to the man - he has a tiny Zangoose with him; must be newly hatched - but remains in the water.]

"Melancholy" doesn't begin to describe it. [He gives the strange a wry smile.] I'm stuck on an island with no way to return home; and I've got something big goin' on back there. "Pissed off" is more like it. Anyway, seems you know me, but I don't recognize you.

[Ah, so he's new! Edmond, the tiny Zangoose in his arms, takes a few steps closer to the water. As he walks, he lets out a soft, girlish giggle.]

Nobody seems to ever recognize me, it seems! But that is quite alright. I'm Count Edmond Flamberge, from Lavaridge Town. Allow me to warn you - you'll find that there are other Archie than yourself here.

[aquaboss]

[What... was that. A giggle? Archie is getting somewhere near disturbed, but at least he's not showing it yet. Maybe because Sharpedo is circling around his feet and if anyone wanted to get to him, they'd have to go through his crazy shark first.]

A Count, huh? [Didn't even know they were still around.] An' yeah, I kinda figured that after runnin' into that one Maxie... [He trails off, an enigmatic expression on his face.]

[oceansbane]

[How did you get up here, Archie? Presumably the same way Maxie did. And you, sir, can have one of those small rocks thrown at the back of your damn head. It's a pretty sharp throw. Feel lucky that he didn't choose something larger.]

I think we all have better things to do than be here.

[aquaboss]

[Oh hey look, it's our favorite crazy Maxie! Except Archie doesn't notice him until that rock collides with the back of his head. Ow, fuck that hurt.]

What the hell-- [He turns around and groans. Great. He's pretty sure this is the same crazy Maxie instead of the one he knows - or some other one, assuming there are multiple Maxies roaming the island. That idea alone makes him want to get the hell out of here even more.]

If you wanted my attention, all you had to do was ask. [Rubbing at the back of his head now; you're a real bastard, you know that Maxie?] Then why the hell are we here in the first place? I sure as hell wasn't headed toward any damn island - but here I am. [That seems to frustrate him more than confuse him.]

[Well. Now that he has your attention, he'll just be resettling up on that outcropping, if you don't mind. He doesn't sit down, instead choosing to brace his leg against the top of it, leaning forward and folding his forearms across his thigh. It's a broad but generally casual stance, though his gaze remains very, very alive.]

I wasn't exactly intending to end up on some island of the damned, either, you know. But you have a point - here we are.

[He tips his head a bit, deflecting his gaze downwards and slightly to the side; he's watching the Pokémon more than their trainer. His hair falls forward a bit, the red locks tumbling down haphazardly and obscuring parts of his face; he doesn't bother to move them.

He simply remains where he is, his body almost unnaturally still. Watching.]

And obviously, we're not very happy to see each other.

[aquaboss]

[Archie remains silent, watching the crazy Maxie stare down at him - or maybe it's just the water he's looking at, it's hard to tell with that hair in his face - and he's struck again by how different this Maxie is. That thought is brushed aside immediately though; all Maxies are awful, no exceptions.]

You got that right. [He's not entirely sure what this Maxie intends to do, considering he just got a rock thrown at his head, but clearly he's up to something. Archie folds his arms and waits. Let him make the first move.]

[surrealstream]

[...Another bumbling idiot it seems. Or at least that's what Cress makes out from the words he says. Still, first impressions aren't what makes the man sometimes.

Cress is just going to observe you from a distance. Marina, however, will be going right up to the water to greet the Pokemon. Water types are cool, okay?]

[aquaboss]

[And suddenly, there is a strange looking monkey in the water. Both Sharpedo and Tentacruel approach it curiously; so there must be nothing bad about it. Archie follows his Pokemon, hands in his pockets as he examines the thing. It looks like no Pokemon he's ever seen before.]

You're an interesting little guy, aren't'cha? [Sharpedo makes a noise of approval and begins swimming circles around them - that shark never can keep still. Tentacruel is still studying the Pokemon - he actually has a tentacle up to his face as if mirroring Archie's gesture of thinking.]

I've never seen a Pokemon like you. [Nope, Archie doesn't find it weird to talk to Pokemon.]

Simi! [Marina smiles to the mention of being interesting. Yet again, quite a few people who aren't from Unova say that, but it's not bad. She'll also giggle a bit at Sharpedo swimming around them. That's so cool!

Marina turns back to Archie, pointing a finger to herself when he mentions that he's never seen a Pokemon like her before.] Simi sim Simipour! Simipour simi simipo? [Introduction! ...And asking where he's from.]

[aquaboss]

[Well, since Archie can't speak Pokemon, he's rather confused by her excited burst of... words, if Pokemon-speech can be called that.]

"Simipour?" Is that what you are? [Sharpedo stops his circular swimming to begin making figure eights between Archie's legs. He doesn't seem to mind even though the Rough Skin is certainly not being kind to his pants. It's when Marina finishes her remarks that the shark stops and begins yanking at Archie's pant leg. Somehow or other, he doesn't rip it off.]

What? [More yanking. Tentacruel seems to have figured out what Sharpedo's doing and points a tentacle at Archie.] What about me? [The tentacle points to Marina.] You want me to introduce myself? [Sharpedo utters a happy cry and begins his circling again while Tentacruel looks rather pleased with himself.]

Alright, fine. I'm Archie; Team Aqua's boss back in Hoenn. Not that it matters, since there's no way off this island and I highly doubt any members of my team are here. [A short pause, and then Archie abruptly changes the subject.] Do you have a

[[ Carys will probably show up? Carys HAS shown up. If we're going to go into details she's been on the island three months and has developed a distaste towards a double clone who can transform into a Sneasel.

But the clone does have a nicer outfit.

As of today she's at the beach no, really?, walking with Banette. Eventually, Archie, she will come into view. Keep watching. ]]

[In the meantime, Archie has taken to picking up decent-sized rocks and tossing them into the ocean. The goal is for Sharpedo to intercept them before they hit the water. The shark is really good at it. Sometimes he even brings the rock back. Sharpedo, you are not a dog. Tentacruel is the first one to notice Carys and he makes a low noise of disapproval. Archie turns to see what has Tentacruel so upset.]

[Oh. Carys. So she is here. He doesn't particularly hate her - no more than he hates Adrian - but she certainly is a persistent little brat. After a moment of thought, he calls out to her.]

Hey, kid! You gonna try to stop my plans here too? [It's said jokingly; there's no way off the island and there's no way he can successfully complete his plans here. At least, none that he can think of. He offers her a grin and walks out of the shallows. Tentacruel follows, but Sharpedo seems more amused with the local wildlife than following the boss around.]

So you're here too, huh? I've seen Adrian around... [Not that he'll mention that

[Theo doesn't normally stop to greet people unless he wants to battle, but he happened to overhear some of this guy's rambling, and - ]

How do you know Adrian and Carys?

[aquaboss]

[Rambling? That wasn't rambling! Kids these days! Don't know what a good monologue is!]

Those two brats are always interferin' with my plans. Lemme guess, you're a friend of theirs? [Archie's never seen this kid before. Apparently they've never dragged him into any ecoterrorism-stopping-plots before. That doesn't mean he's okay in Archie's book though - not if he's friends with those two.

[But monologuing is all wasted time! Gotta keep moving, gotta keep moving...]

I am. You must be with Team Aqua.

[He's heard of those two teams plaguing Hoenn, of course, although he's never had any personal run-ins with them. Adrian had complained a handful of times.]

Good guess. Though I would'a throttled you if you'd said Magma. [It's said in an almost cheery way as if he doesn't mean it; but Archie sure as hell looks like he could snap any kid in half, much less someone sickly like Theo.]

An' they've probably told you a lot about what I do, huh? So? You gonna try to stop me from doin' anything here? [Like what? It's not like he can do anything while he's on the island and he knows it. Archie just likes picking fights and beating kids with his super-leveled Pokemon okay.]
