[If you're out by the beach today, you may notice a certain Team Aqua boss sitting on a rocky outcropping above the ocean. How he got up there is a mystery. He's throwing pebbles into the water, but it looks like he's looking for something in the distance. Below, his Sharpedo is taking quite the pleasure in chasing after whatever fish Pokemon he ( Read more... )

[You said the magic word! ... The magic word being 'Maxie'. Why, Edmond just happened to be taking his baby Zangoose/kid for a stroll down by the beach, to let Raymond get a taste of the fresh spring breeze. Not... too close to the water, though, 'cause we don't like water. When Edmond sees Archie in the distance, however... he instantly recognizes that it's an Archie, but with him being so far off there's no way for him to tell which Archie it is, or if it's an Archie he has met, even. But he's feeling lucky and confident that it's not the evil Archie. So he calls out to him.]

Archie! What's the matter, are you feeling melancholy today?

[Archie turns to glance toward the sound of the unfamiliar voice and lifts an eyebrow. Someone else who knows him, but he's never met. This island is one strange place alright. He walks closer to the man - he has a tiny Zangoose with him; must be newly hatched - but remains in the water.]

"Melancholy" doesn't begin to describe it. [He gives the strange a wry smile.] I'm stuck on an island with no way to return home; and I've got something big goin' on back there. "Pissed off" is more like it. Anyway, seems you know me, but I don't recognize you.

[Ah, so he's new! Edmond, the tiny Zangoose in his arms, takes a few steps closer to the water. As he walks, he lets out a soft, girlish giggle.]

Nobody seems to ever recognize me, it seems! But that is quite alright. I'm Count Edmond Flamberge, from Lavaridge Town. Allow me to warn you - you'll find that there are other Archie than yourself here.

[What... was that. A giggle? Archie is getting somewhere near disturbed, but at least he's not showing it yet. Maybe because Sharpedo is circling around his feet and if anyone wanted to get to him, they'd have to go through his crazy shark first.]

A Count, huh? [Didn't even know they were still around.] An' yeah, I kinda figured that after runnin' into that one Maxie... [He trails off, an enigmatic expression on his face.]

Which Maxie? I beg your pardon, I mean, what color were his eyes?

[The question comes as a quick reply, and Edmond realizes the island might have taken away a little bit of his sanity over time. Ah, well!]

...His eyes? [Does Archie even know the color of the Maxie from his world's eyes? Of course he does, he's just pretending not to.] Red, I think. He acted like he was... posessed or somethin'.

[You know you've looked into his eyes a lot, Archie. *wink, wink*]

Ah, then... he's the wrong Maxie. I don't like him a lot, either.

[Wh-what the hell are you implying!?]

The wrong one? [Have a dubious look.] That means there's a right one? [Yep, two Maxies. That's lovely. Just lovely.] Well I can see why; he's fucking crazy.

[ 8D Nothiiing...]

Ah, yes, there's definitely something wrong with him, though I have no idea what it might be. Like yourself, however, I have found myself suspecting that he might be deranged, though I lack the necessary knowledge to be certain.

Ah, and there is a right Maxie, and I happen to be his supporter.

[...For your sake, you better hope it's nothing.]

Can't blame you there. Wouldn't wanna spend too much time around that guy myself.

[...Oh no, not another Team Magma member. Ugh. Why.] So you're a part of Magma, then? Why didn't you bother attacking me on sight? [Because that's how it works in his world, apparently.]

[Another gay giggle - keyword being 'gay'.]

For a variety of reasons, in fact! First of all, I'm not part of Team Magma proper - I'm not in any uniform, am I? Secondly, I do answer to Maxie, however, and he has given me very explicit orders to not pick fights with you or any other member of Team Aqua. And third and last, I admire you. Your perseverance in staunchly fighting the just cause I think everybody should devote their lives to.

[Those giggles are beginning to creep him out a bit. They're rather... gay, for lack of a better adjective.]

So why aren't you a member of Team Magma if you support him? [Not that it really matters; not on this island at least.] He's given you orders not to pick fights? [Archie's are always the opposite: See a Magma, go beat 'em up.]

[It's the final statement that really leaves him speechless for a moment. He admires him? The enemy? Why? Because even though their goals are so different, Archie and Maxie really are working to make the world a better place?] Thanks, but I'm not sure how much of a compliment that is coming from a Magma sympathizer.

[Well, have more giggles!]

Can't you see that, at my age, I simply cannot be one of those young, brazen heroes? I'm forty-two.

Ah, that is a little hurtful. It is a compliment nonetheless, and I think you should take it as such.

[No, really, cut it out. It's creepy.]

So? If you can help the cause there's no reason to turn you down. Especially if you're any good at battling. [And you don't look forty-two, but he's not going to mention that because it would probably be met with more creepy giggles.]

Kinda hard to believe though. Sympathizing with the enemy isn't something I'd do, at any rate.

Oh, rest assured I will never sympathize with you.

[Have a bit of a smug smirk. Never as smug as Maxie's smirks, but... one third as smug? If that makes sense.]

In any case, welcome to the Island. You'll hate it here at first, just like I did, only to find one can live quite happily here, in spite of everything.

[His attention switches to the tiny Zangoose in his arms then. He lifts one of his tiny clawed paws and moves it to and fro, as if the tiny Zangoose was waving.]

Say hi, Raymond! See, this is Archie. He's Maxie's rival. Like a Seviper, except... [He looks at Archie again for a brief moment as he searches for the word.] ... More handsome.

aquaboss April 13 2011, 18:57:09 UTC
Good, wouldn't want you to break Maxie's heart. [He doesn't realize just how deep what he just said goes, but it's not like Archie ever really thinks before he talks.]

Yeah, I'm sure I will. Got two rivals on the island already - kids, at that - so guess life can only get better. [Unless his Maxie arrives.]

[Then Edmond is making his baby Zangoose wave and Archie has the sudden urge to send Sharpedo after him. Zangooses are not stuffed animals. You shouldn't make them wave against their will. What are you, N? Instead he smirks at the compliment.] Clever. But I doubt this one's ever seen a Seviper.
