Man, I have a lot of work to do.
Supposedly, I have a 200-page French novel to read by tomorrow that I am 43 pages in on.
Supposedly, I need to read about 70 more pages of Max Weber's Protestant Ethic. (The likelihood of accomplishing these two things by Tuesday is appropximately less than or equal to a snowball's chance in hell.)
I will definitely, on the other hand, have to read one 300-page French novel a week for the next couple of weeks, and then somehow fineagle together a group presentation on them. And then help with a 25-page group paper on them for our final. Not to forget doing the readings for my other classes. Oh, yeah, there's that Soc essay he's assigning this Thursday. And I bet I'll have to start on the Self-Narrative project for Anthro in between doing the reading for that class.
I will also have to sign up to give a group presentation on one of the other anthro readings ... hopefully I can schedule it so it's not on the same week as the French one.
I haven't done anything about 'furthering my career' because I am too freaked out by the massive amounts of reading and understanding I am supposed to accomplish. I also haven't gotten the department chairs to sign my forms so I can apply classes I took in France to my major and minor. Which, fuck, is actually kind of important.
I gave myself insomnia two nights ago because I was trying to formulate a plan to get as much homework done as I could over the weekend. "I could read for this class... but no, that one's on Wednesday, I need to do Tuesday's reading first -- but wait, there's also the writeups..." And then at 3am I very nearly said "Fuck sleep" and got up to do more reading, but I'm glad I took the sleep route instead.
I gave myself a wound beneath my fingernail almost two weeks ago, and it hasn't stopped hurting or looking discolored. It makes typing a little difficult sometimes. I should go to the health center eventually; see if they have some kind of medication to make it stop aching. ... Do I even have health insurance? I must have.
Clearly I should stop typing up this post and get some of that reading done.
