Please explain how the Mets rotation is better. Please. I'm dying to know.
PEDRO. IS. OLD. Okay? No way he lasts the entire year (I'll be shocked if he makes it the All Star break). Not only is he old, HE IS COMING OFF AN ARM INJURY. Do you really think he's going to throw 95mph again? He's not. He doesn't pitch 9 innings, or even 7 anymore either. So on days he starts, your bullpen (which was HIGHLY ineffective last year and has not been significantly upgraded) better be rested.
Maine? You think he's the second coming of Cy Young for... some reason I don't know. He's cute, yes, but has he proven he can pitch a full season in the Majors? No. As Leanne pointed out (and you ignored), he was AWFUL in the second half, besides the one start against the Fish. He had an ERA over 5 in September.
Perez? Is inconsistent. One day he pitches a complete game 3-hitter, the next he walks 10 & doesn't get out of the 3rd inning. Sure, you can win with a guy like that.
El Duque? How in the hell the guy is still PLAYING is beyond me. He's old. He's not terrible but HE IS OLD. Susceptible to injury. Has a very, very good chance of missing time on the DL.
So okay, besides Santana you have an old Pedro, older El Duque, unproven Maine, and inconsistent Perez. WOW YOUR ROTATION IS THE BEST EVAH.
Honest to god, do you ever watch baseball? I am really beginning (no, not beginning, I thought this before) to think that you watch the game purely to ogle John Maine's ass. You know absolutely nothing else. & you attack Leanne for "not knowing anything about the Mets"... she watches them A LOT more than you'd think. We both have the baseball package & end up watching SNY/the Mets more than we'd like to admit, especially if they're playing the Marlins (and if Glavine was starting, for her). When do you ever watch a Phillies game, besides when the Mets are playing them? Ever? I didn't think so.
"Don't analyze Maine & Perez"? Why? Because you might be forced to see THE TRUTH? Oh wait, no, I'm "anti-Mets", obviously I think they suck! No. I'm realistic. You have your head shoved so far up John Maine's ass that you probably think he shits diamonds.
"So general & stupid"? THEY WERE STATS. NUMBERS DON'T LIE. You can ignore them all you want, but that doesn't make them any less true. The Mets collapsed last year & it wasn't because of their offense. (Jose sucked, but Alou hit .402 in Sept. & Delgado hit .321). You're returning 4 of the 5 starters from that rotation. How do you know the EXACT SAME THING won't happen again?
I really don't know why I wasted my time replying. You don't want to hear that the Mets rotation might ALL BE ON THE DL AT THE SAME TIME, so you won't listen. So yes, continue "following your team" & by that I mean stalking John Maine, because that seems to be the only area you have any understanding in.
