7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)

Yeah he might be that guy at the sports bar I go to, to watch games at, and have deep baseball convos with (not that I could see him at a bar), but that's it. I'd ttly have him introduce me to that dorky lefty (AVERY, NOT THE OTHER LEFTY) next to him and leave. Ya prty mch.

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?

Baseball: As a pitcher, or player, I wouldn't count him as one of my favorites, but if I were a Braves er...fan, I guess is what to call them (although I prefer "follower"), I most certainly would, regardless of what my feelings for him as a person would be.

Fic Oh plz. Even as a youngun, he's kind of a tool (not as bad as Davey though). I wouldn't say he's the least favorite person I've ever written on paper/in my head/RP/whatever, because he has this sort of promise that shines through at that time, but I certainly wouldn't but him in even the top half.

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?

If anyone were a new baseball fan, particularly one of an NL East team, I'd direct them to edumacate themselves at least briefly on the Atlanta Braves from 1991-1995, specifically their pitching staff. And that includes Smoltz. S'like required readin or something.

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

I think Turner Field would spotaneously implode if he was suddenly not a Brave. Although I'd like to see that, so hmmm.

But I don't think anyone ever dare write (non-crack) Smoltz!slash. And with good reason, of course. Cuz srsly.

Do Phillip, and if ya want, Ollie. ;D

I won't do Ollie yet. Maybe if I post this on my elJay I'll do an Ollie shout out. (That pic though, when he has that stuff in his eyes, has me rolling. Still.)

Philip, only because.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.

I think Philip Humber is extremely sweet, if not neglected. He has TJ's in 2005 and it's taking him a bit to recover, which made his stock drop within the Mets system. People keep on harping on the successful individuals who recovered from TJ's, like Carp, and thought Hump would do well. He actually did well the latter half of the 2007 season where he had a no-hitter until two outs in the 9th of the Triple-A game he was in. His statistics in a hitter's league improved, so there is hope yet with a second season.

But Hump is neglected because he has "soft stuff", like a curve ball and a fastball you can clock at 90 mph~ (if not higher). He was misused greatly when he came up with the Big Club and not used out of the pen before he made his tragic start.

Okay, after all that, I *like* him, but I don't write him enough only because he, to me, doesn't seem to be into that stuff. (What? A guy from Texas with a fiancee not into that stuff especially being around Pelf? Whaaaat?)

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?

Depending on the story, he is. He is the other half of Humfrey, the quiet, "bulldog"-ish (as Pelfrey said), nice individual whom Pelfrey likes to pick on. They went through the system together though Pelf came a year later. It's endearing sometimes. I'd like to say they depend on one another, but most of my stories, apart from When You Know and others, he's not *that* important (when it's strictly Maine/Pelf).

3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?

Sometimes. Maybe Hump feels left out? Maybe he just doesn't care what Pelfrey is doing? I know the feeling.

4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?

Love it. Hump, Pelfrey, Maine are always together. There was a shot of them crowding around Pedro Martinez late in the season, all *learning*.

5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)

Heh. With Pelfrey, and only because they do almost everything together. Depending how you want to take his character in a story, he's either not into that stuff or too shy to be getting himself into that stuff.

6) Is there anything about the character you would change?

I'd like for him not to be so soft-spoken, but that's who he is.

7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)

I wouldn't make fun of his 'ccent, that's for sure ;P. /liar.

I'd be friends with him, sure, but only to be friends with Pelfrey and Maine also. Is like a connection.

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?

Neither list. He's just there.

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone who's new to the fandom?

No, I wouldn't necessarily hype him, but I'd say he keeps Humfrey balanced and grounded.

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

Sure, if the fanbase wants him to be used as tradebait! I kid, I kid. Philip, like I said, is the other side of Humfrey, so if you talk about one, surely you can talk about the other. He's the one Pelfrey can't live without on the road.
