I'm just so giddy that I can't quite babble enough about it ...

I meant to post these sooner:
Android Central's review of the HTC Evo 4G
Android and Me's review of the HTC Evo 4G

While we were standing in line Friday morning (along with about 30 other people, and it had grown to that size again by the time we exited the store), the HTC rep spoke with each of us a little bit, and I enthusiastically informed him that this would be my very first smartphone. He smiled, and said, "Well, have you gotten to hold one, yet?" I said, "No, not yet, but I'm looking forward to it," and he proceeded to hand me his. :) I was the first person outside of the store to get to hold the Evo. Squee!

The North Point store handled things pretty well: refreshments were available, and the manager brought several of us bottles of water. Everything moved steadily, though the store's network got a bit sluggish with all the sales entries. Still, it didn't crash, and we're now very happy customers.

It has also been somewhat exciting to see the real-world excitement mirroring the online buzz: we were in Best Buy today, and a couple was examining the Evo display. Since the store only had a plastic mock-up available, David let them test drive his for a few moments. As it turns out, they'd already ordered theirs, and were closely monitoring shipping information from UPS. It seems that Sprint sold out of them (and most stores had a very decent allocation), and they were waiting patiently for delivery. I'm glad we queued early!

It's now Sunday night, and I've been holding my own in my hot little hands practically non-stop since that time. No, I haven't been sleeping with it, but should I choose to do so, there are a number of alarm clock applications available ... ;)
