Meme: Seven Songs
jasondemotte tagged me with the following meme, and I'll oblige. Thank you very much for asking me. *smiles*
Instructions: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Your timing is interesting because I just updated my wish list with more CDs than it has seen in some time: my inner show tune diva seems to be queening her way out, as the list includes Chess, Cats, and Les Miserables (London). I've heard all of 'em many times before, but don't own 'em. And I've been all warbly lately. Been singing everything from "Stars" to "All I Can Do is Write About It" to "If I had 1,000,000 Dollars" to "Close (to the Edit)" on the way home from work.
Songs I'm really enjoying now? Hmm. I'm listening to a smattering of all sorts of things, so it's hard to single out any one in particular. It changes from moment to moment. It's like I want to listen to several things at once, which is odd for me, but I've had caffeine and a not-insignificant amount of sugar today, so I'm a tetch poingy. :)

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler (I heard it on the radio the other day, and I've had it in my head since then despite my boss' best efforts to banish it by singing about Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo.)
And all of a sudden, this meme was a very worthwhile thing to do. I feel a bit gobsmacked. I mean, I've always gotten the whole "bird in a gilded cage" imagery of Twin Peaks -- tons of bird imagery in that series. However, in scanning the FWWM soundtrack, I just realized that Lynch is making a pun that I feel stupid for never noticing before. One of the songs is titled "Birds in Hell" and it just clicked for me that "bird" is British slang for an attractive woman, typically one that the speaker is thinking carnal thoughts about. Which makes total sense given Waldo's placement, and the shadow of the bird flying in the Black Lodge, and ... *smacks forehead* I told D., and while he wasn't particularly impressed, he hadn't thought of it either, so at least I beat him to it. Twin Peaks Symbolism: The Gift that Keeps On Giving.
