Remix Stories

Jun 26, 2003 12:06

I've been so distracted by OotP & post-OotP fandom reactions and such that I haven't gotten a chance to actually write up this post. The Rescribo! authors have been revealed and the challenge is over-- once again, congratulations to kitsune13 and amatia for running such a wonderfully fun event. I was assigned one Remix and I did two as pickups, and even though it pressured my muses it actually kickstarted me into writing, so I'm ever so grateful.

Without further ado, I present the most excellent stories that I've had the honour to Remix.

And they're (obviously) all Pre-OotP for you impoverished people who still haven't read it.

When I Start To Make You Nervous by babyofthegroup (Drew) was my original Remix assignment and the one I had the most time on. Which is a lucky thing, because Drew writes quidditch-filled Marcus/Oliver that's fast paced and plotty. In other words, something I'd never write, or really read, for that matter. But I did-- and hell, am I glad! Drew's work is wonderful, and I've been reccing it madly ever since I read it. These are real men interacting, and Drew writes them with flair and style.

And my much for verbose and not quite as interesting Believe Mix.

Scope by Twi was the second story that I picked up, and I went to Twi's website only to find that all of her stories are in poetry form! Except a very innovative bit of Justin Timberlake/Hitler slash (0_0) and this short, sweet ficlet. Being the coward that I am, I chose the ficlet-- despite it's brevity, it brings many themes across very well and really gets into the head of Dennis Creevey. If you had told me a week before that I'd be writing Dennis/Cedric with slashy overtones, I'd have mocked you mercilessly. But such is life ;)

My longer and, again, more verbose Photograph Mix (which contains a gratuitous reference to TMR and much more darkness. Sorry, Twi!)

The last assignment Catja asked me to do was a surprise for sangredulce, who hadn't signed up but had taken on a pickup story. And I recieved this assignment exactly 7 hours before the deadline. All of you must be familiar with the phenomenal brilliance of Katiebec's work (or at least, you should be!) so you can imagine by nervous, fingernail chewing, blood sweating state. I blame my choice of story completely on this insanity. Patilcest. Yes. Patilcest. I kid you not. I remixed Katie's gorgeous, gorgeous Only.

My only consolation after writing the Voiceless Mix of her story is that she doesn't hate it. Katie, you are a kind person. I am still amazed that I touched your work.

Oh, and in case people were wondering, it was Voiceless that I thought was extremely obvious. It references Adrienne Rich, Shakespeare, Francis Ponge, Sylvia Plath and Eliot. Yes. I am shameless and I hide behind other people's words.

Speaking of which sangredulce is that how you knew it was me? :)

On another note, gacked from mctabby: please tell me you've seen The Mary Sue Comic Strip? *snerkles*
