Dark Town

Aug 09, 2004 20:41

(I wrote this on vacation at Murtle Beach, GA, a party town. Not everyone there is "dark and evil" but in the down town area at night everyone is drinking and doing drugs and at parties, and the girls dress like sluts.)

I sit in the night
The ocean pitch black
The sound of crashing waves permeate
They crash and break the sand away
Eroding it all into dark.

This evil of these waves
Are like the souls of these people,
Sin erodes there morals and life away.
The dinking and parties and sex and drugs
Are all part of a life build on this beach,
Sandy ground.
Their life,
Washed away by sin
Building their house on the sandy ground.

Yet all can not be judged.
For I am here,
But not like them.
Let God judge,
I worry about myself.
To be a light in this place,
To be the lighthouse in the night,
To keep my life right,
To keep my lustful eyes tame,
To share His love with others
Is the only way.

God is seen in others
Through missions trips
With their dramas at the beach.
I am not alone,
My family is with me.
And Summer is here,
A Christian girl,
A new friend in this Dark Town.

God, help me serve you with my life,
And help me, this dark night.
