A real quick drabble... Wrote it during school last week, just remembered I'd written it, soo... here it is.

Spoilers for "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" episode "Ourselves Alone."

Title: It Ends Tonight (Yes, from the All-American Rejects song)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 423
Pairing: Riley/Jesse
Fandom: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

“I rescued you from Hell. I took you to Paradise.

At the forefront of her mind was racing memories of chaos and anguish. Torment no one but those who have seen and touched the Apocalypse could understand.

Amidst the devastation, Jesse had been her Guardian Angel. She’d fought like a vicious lioness to protect her against the Metals before whisking her away, lips heavy with promises of a better world.

And Riley had loved her for it. More than she should have.

“I made you matter.”

Riley had wandered aimlessly since the End; just trying to survive without much of a clue as to why she wanted to live so much. There was no point to any of it. She had no family, no friends… Why would she care about the fate of humanity?

But Jess had convinced her otherwise. Through her inspiring stories and hurtful but honest verbal abuse, she’d kicked her ass into gear. She’d forced Riley towards the realization that she wanted to fight the Metals. That was her purpose.

To win this

Jess offered her a prominent role in the Metals defeat and she took it without question. What else could she have asked for?

“I trusted you! I loved you!”

Riley had been greedy and too quick to assume it had all turned in her favor. She’d been mistaken; under the impression of an extravagant delusion devised by her own misguided psyche.

She had misinterpreted Jess’s lingering gazes and intimate words, expecting that they matched her own mounting desire.

Her confident kiss had been rejected with such passion and fire, such revulsion...

And though the bullet slicing through her muscles and nerves screamed oblivion, the agony was not nearly as painful as the suffering she had endured when Jess's eyes had turned hard, creased by loathing and disgust.

The last thing her eyes saw was that cold expression on Jess's face, that repulsion and lack of regret.

Oh, how wrong she'd been about her partner, the one she'd so stupidly given her heart to. Her Jess, her Guardian Angel, who had driven her to death's edge and then pushed her over, frigidly watching as she plummeted to the harsh and unforgiving ground below.

She'd known betrayal, but nothing like this... And as she collapsed to the ground, she wished only that she had died where Jess had found her because that had been Paradise in comparison to this.

Well... at least it was over and done with. Onto a new Inferno.
