Hahaha, that moniker could not be more accurate. I am loving him. All my favourites are dickbags.
"On the plus side, our mother died of consumption."
"Oh. Good."
LOL. That entire scene was golden.
Or is it just, as I'm more and more suspecting, that a function of time, that a century or more of bloodlust and ennui can and will drag everyone down into the mud?
Your suspicions are observant and smart. I accept your hypothesis as truth.
I don't know what it says about me that this show often leaves me envying Elena and Stefan's social skills.
LOL RIGHT? I often find myself thinking about how I WOULD USE MY POWERS FOR GOOD if I had a fraction of their game! But alas, I am a screamingly obvious Damon. Perhaps a tactically evasive Tyler on my best day.
I really really love that we're getting a closer look into her headspace again, and I saw some very interesting hints in that last scene with Stefan. Although I didn't even think about the possibility of Jesse being sired to Caroline. Uh...I hope that doesn't happen because OMG it could be such a disaster, and not the kind that's fun to watch.
Yeah, the siring thing is more an outside possibility than something that I'd say seems likely, but I'd be really interested to see someone at least raise the question and see how she reacts.
In scale? Of course not. But the thought process there is this: "This person and I love each other. Therefore, THEY will stick with ME and MY life plan. Any deviance from the life that I have set up for US is a betrayal of ME. Any defensive moves people make to duck my tactics to enforce this plan is an attack on ME." Has she turned the use of force from strangers to the people she cares about? Not yet. But procedurally, that is exactly how Klaus thinks.
I also disagree with Care's assessment that he had zero interest, because he called a couple of weeks ago and told her he was taking some time. That's not an objective "no communication," that's "no communication on Caroline's terms." He explained why he was doing things distantly - "because this way it's harder for you to kill me," ie, he knows she's going to try to fight him out of making the decision he needs to make. Dialing down non-emergency contact with someone who's less and less willing to take no for an answer, as we're seeing Caroline become this season, is a perfectly

is there any reason the doppelganger blood needed to break the curse that Esther put on Klaus had to come from Tatia's line?
Esther used Tatia's blood in the spell that turned her family into vampires, so it makes sense that Klaus would need a Petrova doppleganger to break the hybrid curse. I don't think a Silas doppleganger would have done the trick.
It would have been amusing. However since Katherine turned herself into a vampire to escape being used in the ritual and since being a vampire did prevent her being used in the ritual, I suspect that Stephan wouldn't have worked either. But yeah, Klaus would have been too bad so sad if using Stefan would have given him his immortality.
I mean, it doesn't seem like you hated it from your review? I loved it but the universal Livejournal reception has been rather negative. SO YAY FOR YOU! :DD
So...is there any reason the doppelganger blood needed to break the curse that Esther put on Klaus had to come from Tatia's line?
Probably. I thought it had to come from a Petrova doppelganger, as opposed to... any old doppelganger? LOL if Klaus could have used Stefan though. LOL, LOOL.
Amnesiac dickbag Stefan might be my favorite performance of PW’s to date.
Haha! The world's most apt description, tbh! I actually kind of love him. He's sort of... Stefan in his ~pure ~form. Just the essentials. I think it's great at uncovering just how dangerous Stefan has been for, like, this whole time. If anything that danger was mitigated by his life experience. Well, except for all the people he massacred. The danger wasn't mitigated for them. Hm.
I AM ALSO INTERESTED IN THE RIPPER THING. Like:

That, and upon further reflection, I think it was awesome the way they were, like, grooming him as the Ripper? Just telling him that those "urges," which all vampires feel, were UNCONTROLLABLE in special snowflake Stefan, therefore setting him up to go over the edge because he has no framework for the difference between "not wanting to stop" and "totally, cosmically unable to stop." ABSTINENCE HAS A HIGH FAILURE RATE, KIDS.
LOL really? I thought Damon was at his most manipulative EVER in this episode. Like, Damon is literally the least capable of manipulation but he gave a good crack at it this episode, emphasising all the wrongs that Stefan had done ect

This.
EXACTLY THIS! There was a legit tug of war between Damon and Elena on who would be the one to reprogram Stefan and all the while they were increasing the liklihood of ripperifying him. Like. Elena's annoyance at having to remind Stefan of her name was glorious but her attempt to link herself (and only herself) to his human!good!side rather than his 'other' ripper!side was surely flawed. Damon's "you killed our father and fucked me over and massacred innocent people and fucked me over" felt like a genuine yet doomed effort to control the narrative but that was equally bad. Being told you WILL lose control isn't... uhm, helpfulSame with Caroline. "You can't do people." It turned out
