First off: The Social Network
This movie was great! The acting was great, the cinematography was fantastic, the pacing was good, and the emotion of this film was awesome! By the end my emotions were so confused I wanted to cry, but other emotions of how awesome this movie was confused my brain. I really can see how this was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. ...and why yes, I do support Mark/Eduardo please. 8D This is not a movie you can shut your brain off for; it's intelligent, you have to keep up with the dialogue & story, and you have to pay attention or you'll get left behind. A good movie that makes you alert and your emotions go crazy.
Second: Intimate Affairs ("Investigating Sex")
Not to watch with parents, but more or less a good movie. Yes, this film is all about sex -or rather, the discussion of sex. It's about this group of male friends in 1929 who get together to have an intelligent conversation about their sexual habits and what they percieve in them. This movie is not a movie for those who just want to see a period sex drama. Their conversations are intelligent (in certain ways) and the characters go to places one really wouldn't want to in real life in the time period, such as beastiality and anal sex. This is definately a film for mature audiences. Yeah, I saw it for Alan Cumming. Just going to say that. It is a good movie though. I'll only say about the ending is that I was upset that it didn't have a happy ending. It was happy for a couple of characters, but it left a weird taste in my mouth; that more of a story needed to be told for certain characters after the end. What happened to them? Where did they go from there? Questions that aren't answered and that's the only real downside to the movie. Also, they should have talked more about homosexuality than beastiality, because the beastiality conversation was quite uncomfortable to sit still for... especially with Alan's character. Although I must say that I really liked Neve Campbell in this movie. Not the best film, but a good one.
Third: Bam Bam & Celeste
I literally stumbled upon this movie and loved it! It's the story about these two outcasts (the title characters) who embark on a trip to New York City to get onto a makeover show. Yes, I started it for Alan Cumming, but I stayed for the plot. I loved it! It was a funny, cute, silly stereotypical spoof with a good message. Although I think they went a little overboard with the language and inappropriate slang. However, it is exaggerated on purpose to point out later in the movie the message that true beauty is on the inside. Alan was so cute as Eugene! Loved the mother, too, she was hilarious!
