treason against that idea is not just a crime against the living

So, I couldn't sleep and after awhile I gave in. I'm fully addicted to TLC shows, so after a few hours of What Not to Wear I ended up turning on my DVD player, if only because reruns were beginning to emerge and I was too lazy to get up and put something else on.

Of course, a TWW disc was in and of course, "Somebody's Going to Emergancy, Somebody's Going to Jail" was on that disc and of course I watched it.

I've spoken at great length about this episode before. And probably more times than just that, too, because it's the sort of episode that I just watch and sniffle at because... dear god. Poor Sam. I was just recently talking about Rob Lowe with... i think scrollgirl?... and really, he is just flawless in that episode. There's so much contrast and beauty and pain, even in the way the episode is lit and shot. I just looked it up--a woman called Jessica Yu directed this episode, which surprises me because it definitely had more of a Chris Misiano or maybe even a Tommy-ish feel to it, but... yeah.

Anyway. As much as people look down their noses at Sorkin for reusing plot devices (which, okay, let's back of up a second. I can think of at least TWO other creators who do that as well and don't get nearly as much flack for it), when he does it this well? It's totally allowed. Christ.

Also, I am eagerly awaiting the "Soandso's [Tom, please!] father has been having an affair for twenty-seven years" episode of Studio 60. And you know you are too. Because you know it's going to kick ass.

Anyway, I just wanted to rant about that episode a little. And also complain that I am sick and can't sleep ;-;
