HAPPY NEW YEAR, INTERNET!
I have a sort of reflective post I want to write today, too, but as I am already one day behind on the "write about things in January" meme, I figure I better get on that first.
Today
littledust asked, "Tell me why breakfast food is so delicious. I know you're preaching to the choir, but do it anyway."
Guys. I love breakfast. Breakfast is absolutely my favorite meal. I don't eat an ~*actualfax breakfast*~ most mornings, but I go out for breakfast on weekends and holidays with frequency and it's my favorite meal to eat out. When I was home for Christmas, we went to my parents' favorite breakfast place five of the eight mornings I was there. When people come to town and want to hang out, my first thought is always, "what brunch place can I take them to?" A couple summers ago,
metonymy,
chiasmus, and I formed a triumverate entirely to try to go to as many Boston-area breakfast places as possible.
I really like breakfast.
Despite this, I don't know that I can quantify why breakfast food is so delicious. It's a good combination of sweet and savory? It's filled with delicious carbs? It's versatile? I like that, no matter what mood I'm in, I can find a breakfast food to suit it. I tend to be a waffle or pancake girl, but if I want something sweeter, french toast is there for me! If I want something savory, there are all sorts of eggs and breakfast meats!
And I could (and have) eat breakfast any time of the day, but eating it at breakfast/brunch time...I don't know, it adds something to it. You have the whole day ahead of you, and you're starting it off by doing something delicious, so how can it be bad?
The long and short of it is that I love breakfast and if we ever hang out in person, I will probably drag you to brunch at least once, if not multiple times.
BREAKFAST! :D
