25 Days of OTP - Master List
Holy crap! Well, that was a challenge I did! Twenty-five days, all complete, now. (Well, complete as in all the days are complete. The larger old retired dudes story I started pulling together out of those snippets isn't done yet, nor did I get around to finishing that daycare story that I started for "on a date," but THEY ALL STAND ALONE, IS WHAT I'M SAYING.)
There were some difficulties to this on different fronts and I'm honestly surprised I made it through with only three extra days! For one thing, even though I do mostly write Charles/Erik, there were days when I wanted to write about other people. I have a Howlett/Herc fic in my brain, and also one of the days I reeeaaallly wanted to write het sex, and since I'm not into genderswap, I was defaulting to Moira/Fury, but couldn't stay from Charles/Erik. Also, a couple times I got pulled into my WsiP and ended up with a couple thousand words of those that I couldn't use for that day's prompt for whatever reason.
Also also, I won't get into it above a cut, but my Depression gets particularly dicey during the winter and February is usually the worst. Although it wasn't a conscious choice at the time, forcing myself to stay up with this probably helped this week's near catastrophic meltdown from being worse. It certainly staved it off, for better or for worse.
So, I appreciate it. With everyone abandoning LiveJournal and my own inability to navigate tumblr/not knowing anyone on tumblr/etc, the fact that there were a couple of you who read every day was the absolute best kind of surprise. It's always good to know you're not shouting into a void :) So, thank you to everyone who read, but shout out to synecdoche_and, fengirl88, afrocurl, and ang3l_sh1 who read nearly every single day. Every day! I don't even want to read my own words every day! But I can't thank you guys enough for your enthusiasm for the project. (Thanks always to pearl_o and bessiemaemucho for being great at boats ghosts stuff.)
All told, I wrote approximately 25,000 words for this challenge, which is not an insignificant amount! And, most importantly, I FINISHED IT, which I don't know that I entirely believed I'd do when I started.
