Last night, we finally watched Bomb Girls. littledust and metonymy have only been on us to watch that since, like, last February. Whoops. GUYS, I'M SO SORRY I WAITED. But, by the same token, I was SUCH A SHITSHOW last February through uh, August? That it might have killed me to watch it then. SO GOOD, THOUGH. OMG. OMG. OMG. I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS. ABOUT EVERYONE. As those of you who follow me on Twitter may have surmised.
GLADYS. IS SO AMAZING. With her kickassness and her learning to respect different social classes and learning the reality of war and GUYS, THE PART WHERE SHE BASICALLY TELLS BETTY, "I RECOGNIZE YOUR HUGE LADYBONER FOR KATE AND I THINK YOU SHOULD HIT THAT" IS AMAZING. And she makes stupid, rash, impulsive mistakes and does shitty things and learns from her errors and moves on and I LOVE HER.
KAAAAAAAAAATE ♥ Kate of my heart! Who runs away from everything she knows and is so scared and so excited and works hard and is proud of what she's made of herself. And she learns to sing! And instead of coming out of her family caked in fundamental Christian prejudice, she opens herself up to new experiences and learning new things and fending for herself. She gets scared, but she's so, so brave and keeps her cool until confronted with something that means so much to her that she can't parse it. Guys, she's so in love with Betty and so afraid and it's the one thing she can't handle because everything in her new life as Kate was built on a foundation of Betty and the idea that that foundation was based in something she's been raised to believe is impure and will ruin both of them... LOOK, OKAY, SHE'S GOING TO COME BACK AND SHE AND BETTY ARE GOING TO GET THEIR HOUSE. LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU.
AND BETTY OMG. Betty wants so badly to be the unbreakable hardass, who thinks she doesn't need other people and CERTAINLY doesn't need to be liked...OH, BETTY. She's so in love with Kate and I CAN'T EVEN DEAL WITH IT and she lets all of these people into her life and under her skin and she's there for them when they need it and she's kind and encouraging and she doesn't want to owe anyone anything, but that doesn't stop her from doing what she can for those around her and SHE JUST WANTS TO BE HER OWN PERSON AND TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO ACCEPTS HER FOR WHO SHE IS AND IT MUST KILL HER WHEN KATE LEAVES BUT SHE SUCKS IT UP AND GOES TO WORK THE NEXT DAY.
Also VERA, who gave up EVERYTHING to go out and make it on her own and would rather die than admit defeat until she realizes that dying IS admitting defeat and gives one last act of kindness to Archie and I CRIED DURING THAT SCENE I CAN'T EVEN OH MY GOD. I MEAN, OH MY GOD. VERA D': D': D':
And LORNA who makes BAD CHOICES for GOOD REASONS and who just wants a FUCKING BREAK after all of the shit she's been through since Bob came home and who STANDS UP FOR HER GIRLS and tries to protect them and aklfjiaowefjlskf

In other news, I am super excited about Pippin. I'm only seeing it once so far, but I just got a $10 off code that I may use to see it at least once more. Maybe twice more. Does anyone else want to see it? Because I'm willing to go with you. I can make that sacrifice.

So, today I felt gross and tired and Doug came in LOOKING gross and tired and I made the mistake of saying that since he looked as bad as I felt, that I wouldn't make fun of him "for all of today, or until I forget."
So now I'm stuck NOT making fun of Doug, so Kyleigh's really stepped it up to fill the void. That girl's a team player. Riley is inadvertently benefiting from this. Kyleigh has two weeks seniority over him, and Doug awards Riley additional "days" on whims, with the idea that if Riley earns enough days, he'll outrank Kyleigh. It's been pretty amusing to watch, today.
(Also, right now, Kyleigh is trying to corral Doug into working on some data that he is going out of his way to avoid. He sounds about two years old. "I want more water!" "You HAD water. If you had sipped it instead of gulped it, you'd still have water." "But I want more water NOW." "If you finish this page, you can take a break and go get more water." I'm waiting to hear him say, "You're not my real mom!")

Charles and Erik continue to rule my fucking life to a really gross degree. In the middle of a long babbling paragraph about 616!Charles to pearl_o, I found myself going on a crazy tangent about them and having to dial it back and redirect my ramble to his interactions with the kids, which was my original intention.
I continue to marvel at the fact that it's been a really incredibly long time since this movie came out and I'm still chugging along, even as most people drift to other interests. I've not written a single non-XMFC thing since summer 2011, I think. I've not read much outside of XMFC either. I'm not normally so mono-fannish, but there's really just no fannish creative energy left in my brain to devote to anything else.
idek, guys. idek. I sometimes feel like a loser still hanging onto this thing that almost everyone else I know has moved on from, but then I remember that I still have pearl_o and littledust, at the very least, and they are super amazingly awesome, so I can't have strayed TOO far from the herd. (Also, brilligspoons lets me ramble at her still, which is helpful!)
In conclusion, they have super good faces. No regrets.
