Hello, internet!
Roommate Christmas was yesterday and I appreciated it all the more for how crazy the day was at work. Shit sort of abruptly hit the fan and it was only me and Doug in the office, so we spent a lot of the day rushing to fix things and also bitching a lot. Today we get to take a scenic walk through downtown Boston to pick up three thousand pamphlets. It's very exciting.
But! Roommate Christmas! :D
Okay, so, first off, here is a Cardigan Central tale. We have an end table next to our couch. On the bottom shelf of this table, a sheet of Christmas gift tags has been collecting dust for a year. On Monday night, I picked them up to use them for my Work Christmas gifts. When I was done, I left them in the center of the coffeetable, figuring we'd be using them some more in the days to come.
Tuesday evening, on my bus ride home,
mcwonthelottery tweeted that she couldn't find the gift tags and was confused because they had been in the same place for a year. I tweeted back that they were right on the coffee table. A few seconds later, she responded saying she found them, I had covered them with my laptop and other assorted detrius.
Whoops!
"Don't worry," she tweeted. "I took my revenge."
I...may have spent the next day constantly looking around for syrup in my bed or spiders in my hair.
Anyway, the point of it is, I found her revenge as I went to open my gift, only for it to be taped shut with like, an entire roll of tape.
"Also," Becca said as I struggled, "I hid all the scissors."
(There was a second part of her revenge that needs to be photographed to be believed. I'll do that this evening.)
There was something in the box that rattled as I tried to get it open. I was pretty sure it was going to be an empty box full of rice or something, but there was actually A REALLY AWESOME PRESENT INSIDE!
Sonic Screwdriver necklace! Also a grammar book for jerks!
(I THOUGHT I posted a picture of just the necklace last night, but apparently I just took it and never actually tweeted it? idk. Anyway, that's me wearing it this morning.)
SO AWESOME. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW.
My present to
mcwonthelottery was possibly MORE awesome. I've been sitting on it for over a month (and by "sitting on it" I mean "telling everyone who will listen who's not Becca."), and, oh man, so worth it.
BEAR HANDS! And Starter for Ten. BUT. BEAR HANDS!
So,
back when Nicole visited us last year and we watched Being Human, you may remember this exchange happening:
mcwonthelottery: (re: a quote from Hugh on Being Human) He'd kill bears.
pocky_slash: With his bare hands! And his Bear Hands. Which he took from the other bears he killed and wears on his own hands.
mcwonthelottery: He has a collection. He's like, "::pawing at bears:: WHERE'S YOUR GOD NOW?"
quatredeathlady: I'd watch that show.
We certainly remember it. Because we talk about bear hands all the time. And then I found some bear costume hands on Amazon and...yes. I bought Becca bear hands for Christmas. THEY HAVE ALREADY MADE OUR LIVES SO MUCH BETTER, GUYS, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW.
Anyway, Roommate Christmas! It was awesome!

secret_mutant assignments are due today. I totally thought they were due yesterday and was confused when I didn't wake up to 230498 messages asking for extensions, but then saw the date. I think I got thrown off because I kept thinking about the deadline as "the day before I go home," but then the day I'm going home changed.
Anyway, there is so much totally awesome stuff so far, you guys, you don't even know. I can't wait to post it all so that everyone can see everything and... ::hands:: The art is AMAZING and the fics I've had the time to read or beta are brilliant and this fandom is pretty rad.

I hastily made a new banner last night so I could change my layout and turn on custom comment pages. I normally hate custom comment pages, but that should hold off the most egregious of the issues with the new LJ comment pages. I'm normally a person who goes with the flow with regard to this sort of change, but everything about this comment page is a bad idea. I can't even deal. And this is coming from someone who loves new GMail and NewNewTwitter. SIGH.

I think I've decided to drive home tomorrow morning instead of tonight. I'm so frigging tired, you guys don't even know. It's probably because I'm typing minutes and I hate that. And it's boring. But I don't want to fall asleep while driving. That would be...bad.

Okay, back to work. There will be a ficlet posted later. I wish AO3 wasn't blocked at work :(
