BURTON GUSTER: MY FAKE TEEVEE HUSBAND. What is NOT to like about Gus?! He's adorable and hilarious and long-suffering and nerdy and the best ever ♥
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Hells yeah! He's one of the leads, obvs! "Gus, don't be the only black lead on a major cable network."
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
I can definitely relate to Gus in some ways--neurotic, nerdy, over-arching desire to be awesome at a job, long-suffering, eternal sidekick--but I like to think I'm not as uptight as he is. Also, aside from the occasional scene between Gus and Shawn about the strength of their friendship (which are always riveting and awesome and wonderful), Gus doesn't get a lot of the emotional bits. Which is tragic. So I can't really say he's emotionally gripping, but that doesn't make me love him any less.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Psych the show is the best! It is consistently awesome. I don't know much about the fandom, except that there's way too much Shawn/Lassiter and no where near enough Shawn/Gus.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
OH MAN. I love Shawn and Gus. Romantically, platonically, I just love all of it, omg. They're dynamic is awesome, and underneath the hilarity of it, there's a genuine warmth which really makes my heart melt. I also loved the ep Gus did with Lassie and I love Gus and Jules and I love that Henry thinks of Gus as another son. Basically, I love Gus and every one else on the show ♥
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
NOT A SINGLE THING. I LOVE BURTON GUSTER JUST AS HE IS.
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her? Would you get along well? Fall in love with him/her? Dislike? Have a friendly rivalry?
WE WOULD FALL IN LOVE AND GET MARRIED OBVIOUSLY. Ahahaha, um, I think we'd be friends if we worked together, bitching about our jobs and making sarcastic remarks.
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
Yes. Yes he does. ♥ GUS.
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom?
Oh man, Gus is one of my selling points for this show. It is all about Gus and Shawn and how ridic they are and how much they love each other when I'm telling people to watch it.
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?
HE SHOULD BE ♥ ♥ ♥ I think people like him in general, but there's not nearly enough fic.
