"This is what friends gear up for."

We're watching Sports Night.

I missed Sorkin, guys.

Sorkin gets a lot of flack, even within the fandoms surrounding his shows. And I understand it, I do, but Sorkin doesn't effect the logical parts of my brain. Sorkin goes straight to my heart, guys, and watching Sports Night after so long without long-term Sorkin exposure is like coming home.

Sorkin hits all of my textual kinks, all of my sweet-spots. It's about oddballs and nerds and made families. It's about... not belonging and then finding the place where people like you and trust you and making a home with those people and fighting sometimes, but pulling through in the end because you have each other, even when the rest of the world is shit. It's about smart people being smart, but occasionally doing dumb things like we all occasionally do.

Things are not super great right now, obviously, and watching Sorkin is helping to make it better. It makes it worse, too, a bit--that's what I aspire to, that family, that group of people, that support system, that level of happiness and joy for my work. It's also not always easy, and I know S2 is going to leave me wrung out and frayed around the edges like it always does, but right now, I really need it. And I'm so glad it's finally Sports Night time here.
