14valentines Day Five: Sexuality
Hey, kids! Today is Day Five of 14valentines. Some jerk named pocky_slash wrote today's essay on Sexuality, but you should go read it anyway ;D
Today's installment of "Man, These Ladies are Awesome!" focuses on Donnatella Moss, so click the cut and share the love!
Donna Moss. Donna Moss, who was never supposed to be as important as she ended up being, both in the world of The West Wing and in our world as well. Donna may have started off as a convenient way to info dump and a sparring partner for Josh, but over the course of the series, Donna grows more than maybe any of the characters. Her thirst for knowledge and quest to be the best she can be lead her on a journey from campaign volunteer to senior aide to media specialist to the First Lady's Chief of Staff.
Donna is funny and tenacious. She can meet Josh and the others barb for barb and manages to follow along with policy and legislation without even having the benefit of a college education. She manages Josh's entire life, both professionally and personally, and always wants to be as much a part of what's happening around her as she can. When she realizes that Josh is holding her back from pursuing her career, she makes the hard choice to leave him to do what's best for her.
Of the women on The West Wing, CJ is usually the one that gets heaps of praise, but, while I love CJ and think she is entirely worthy of that praise, I think Donna deserves some too, sometimes.
Something I've Done:
Looking at my TWW masterlist, I'm kind of a one-trick pony in that fandom. Though Josh/Donna was my original OTP, Sam/Will is basically all I write. That being said, The Difference Between Russell and Gaza focuses on Donna making the transition between working for Josh and working for Will and why things have changed.
Something Someone Else Has Done:

This fic has Donna doing her job and doing it well. Donna is working for Russell, rising through the ranks, and making a name for herself. She bumps into Josh along the way, and they talk about why they left Bartlet. It's a great Josh/Donna fic that's more about Donna than it is about her relationship with Josh, which is something that's hard to come by. Definitely take a minute to read :)
