14valentines Day Five: Sexuality

You'd think I'd have a lot to say about this topic, but I am on like, day seven of no sleep and I'm sore as hell. Maybe I'll do a round-up of me ranting about these subjects once I've rested for more than two hours at a time.

Pairing: Rose/Mickey
Rating: PG
Summary: Mickey is content. Rose is not.
Rose loves Mickey. It's hard not to love him, though her mother certainly tries. He's just a mechanic, yeah, but he's funny and loyal and so easy to be with. He's like a best mate, almost, except for the kissing and the sex (although there was that one time at that party with Shareen, but they'd both had a lot to drink and agreed never to speak of it again). Mickey's comfortable and she likes that.
But something's not... right.
She doesn't know how to tell him that. Something isn't clicking. She's not in love with Mickey and she never will be. There's something missing from a future with Mickey. Mickey is wonderful, but he's content. Rose's skin itches, sometimes, with the need to move up, move out, get out, get away, as far as she can go. She feels stupid for thinking it--she's an estate girl with no future--but it's like her life is just... waiting. Like there's something out there, something wonderful, and she's biding her time until it arrives.
She didn't expect it to be a blue box, but that doesn't change anything. She'll miss Mickey. She loves Mickey. But she can't let that hold her back from the stars.

Summary: Gus beats Shawn to the punch.
Shawn is going to leave.
Shawn is going to leave, and Gus knows this. He knows it because Shawn always leaves. Shawn leaves his girlfriends and Shawn leaves his commitments. He drops out of clubs after attending a single meeting. He goes through jobs like most people go through socks. Shawn would leave his parents if he was old enough to get away with it. He certainly tries hard enough as it is.
Gus is the only person Shawn has never left. The thought used to fill him with a smug sort of pride, but as they inch closer and closer to graduation, as Shawn becomes more and more unruly and angry moods seem to outweigh mischievous ones, he starts to get nervous. Shawn leaves everyone and Gus is beginning to fear that he's not immune to this, that he's well on his way to being the victim of Shawn's biggest egress yet. It's just a matter of time, really.
So Gus takes action. He's spent his entire life following Shawn--it's time to find his own way. He needs to leave.
He knows it's for the best, but when he slides the college acceptance letter across the table, he can't meet Shawn's eyes.

Pairing: Brandi/Raphael
Rating: PG13
Summary: Brandi's not stupid.
Brandi's not stupid.
She might not be as smart as Mary. She might not have done well in school, but she's not dumb, especially not when Mary is the least subtle person in the world. She knows that Mary loves Raphael. It's completely obvious, even though Mary denies it, because Mary only shoves people away when she's afraid they might be able to hurt her, and Mary is shoving Raphael away as hard and she fucking can.
It's totally stupid, totally Mary, and while Brandi doesn't like Raphael in that way, god, who would, she still knows enough to steer clear.
Sort of.
She knows it's a bad idea, and that should count for something, but Raphael is just so nice! He's sarcastic and argues with her, but beneath that he's like Prince Charming. Guys aren't usually nice to her unless they want to see her naked, and Raph just wants to talk about Mary and make her dinner. All of that niceness is freaking her out.
And she likes it.
She has to stop. She knows she does. And Raphael knows too, because despite the niceness (which Mary totally doesn't deserve), he loves Mary.
And Brandi knows that.
But it doesn't make leaving any easier.
