Hey, internet. What's up?
Today
krabapple and I parted ways. I went on AN ADVENTURE. I think she mostly read a book. She was on a MIND ADVENTURE. Mine mostly involved driving and also insects.
I went to
Butterfly World, which isn't an alien planet populated by giant butterflies, like you would think. Instead, it is a bunch of interconnected gardens and enclosures with hundreds and hundreds of butterflies. It was pretty cool, despite this discrepancy. I took a lot of photos and had some butterflies land on my hat. I was really nervous walking through the enclosures because the "tame" butterflies didn't give a damn about humans at all and I was terrified that I would knock into one or step on one or something. They were just everywhere. But awesome!
I also saw lizards, hummingbirds, and other kinds of birds. And some people, including this lady who talked my ear off about lizards after I knelt down to get a picture of one in the ~*TROPICAL RAINFOREST ENCLOSURE*~. She was nice, though. Everyone in Florida has been nice so far. It's a little creepy, to be honest.
But, niceness aside, it was a good day. I had one poor life choice, when I ducked into the Insectarium to get out of the sun and was greeted by cases and cases of dead bugs. GOOD PLAN, KAITLYN. That's not going to give you terrifying nightmares or anything.
My initial plan was to go from there to a cupcakery in Boca Raton. I drove all the way up there and was unable to find the cupcakery in question, unfortunately. It wasn't too bad, though. I got some cobblestones from Panera to make it up to
krabapple (I had promised her a cupcake) and just driving was nice. Aside from some traffic while getting from our hotel to Butterfly World, the drive was pleasant and I love driving. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be able to leave our hotel and literally be at the beach, but I had missed being behind the wheel. Jenny had an iTrip that I hooked up to Milo, so I screamed along to songs and came up with five million vid ideas and daydreamed a little about the fic that I want to write.
It was a Good Day.
When I got back here,
krabapple was cruising through Catching Fire. We went out to PF Chang's for dinner and had a very nice waiter from Long Island and sat next to a skeevy dude who was trying to get his date drunk and then decided to hit on me for the rest of the night. AWESOME. But also, hysterical.
Now Jenny is working on the last fifty pages of Catching Fire and I am reading fic and waiting for her to finish. Tomorrow will probably be more beach, hot tub, some teevee, and cupcakes. Not bad for a vacation, I feel.
